PBS’s Tony Bennett Tonight – “Great Performances”

Tonight, Friday, January 27, PBS showcases 85-year-old legend Tony Bennett performing Duets II with a variety of artists, young and old on Great Performances. The show was a mix of interviews with performers, the producer, Phil Ramone, and Bennett himself all followed by the song being performed for the album. During the clip of the show, @ PBS’s portion of Press tour, Bennett sings with Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and Willie Nelson and Michael Bublé, among others.

NBC’s “Smash”

ABC Entertainment Group – Paul Lee Speaks Out

Today, the Television Critics Association presented the ABC Entertainment Group to discuss its programs. Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group, began by speaking on the strength of ABC’s Wednesday programming, which includes The Middle, Suburgatory, Modern Family and Happy Endings. “Ten o’clock for us was very important,” he said. “We grew that. I think we’re the only broadcast network that grew at 10 o’clock, and in sort of the ecosystem that I live for our own stations and our affiliates, to see growth at 10 o’clock is really, really good for the whole of ABC.”

After touching on other popular programs, Revenge and Once Upon a Time, Lee moved on to discuss midseason shows to look forward to, including the River, whose showrunners are Oren Peli and Steven Spielberg. “You know, it’s nothing like you’ve ever seen on broadcast television before,” Lee said, describing The River. “We don’t know if people are going to come for it, but it’s extraordinary television.”
