The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA hoops championship with a score of 99-86 , with Kobe pulling out all the stops for a 30 point game and MVP status.
The Larry O’Brian trophy beat the Orlando Magic, with the Jerry Buss family enthused and Jackson having now a ring for each finger.
Only the Boston Celtics in their prime beat the Lakers ring count, but two more championships and the relatively young Lakers will be tied.
The MVP championship, now named the Bill Russell award was Kobe Bryant.
Kobe said “We know we had to become a better defensive team, and we did. This feels like a dream. We had to start from scratch this year.”
He continued, “We put in so much effort, we are just getting better.”
As for his celebration tonight, the children will get soda, but he implied the adults might see some champagne.

A medal for making joy from soy
HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 4/25/09 — Chef Andrew Kirschner from Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica took home Grand Prize and $15,000 at Gen Art’s & Soyjoy culinary combat on “Earth Day” at Boulevard 3.
One member of the audience commented “It must have been the soybean and soy ice cream that forced the judges’ final bet.”

Kirschner, presented a live cooking competition to demonstrate the tastiest way to use earth-friendly foods like soy into our diets.
The soy-based dishes that each had to prepare was a soy beverage, a savory dish and a dessert. The judges had to decide on the best taste, presentation and creativity.
The trio had five to 15 minutes to prepare each dish in front of a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges including actress Julianne Moore, celebrity chef Akasha Richmond, dietitian and author Kate Geagan, chef Joanne Weir and PHD nutrition instructor Connie Guttersen.

HOLLYWOOD (Hollywood Today) 4/19/09 - Susan Boyle visits CNN’s “Larry King Live” with Piers Morgan, gets swept up into Ashton Kutcher’s Twitter race, is invited to sit with Oprah, and has now hit upwards of 50-million views on YouTube since she debuted April 11.
The new it girl is taking the world by storm as many jump aboard her bandwagon. “Her story is just so inspiring,” said 11-year old singer Sabrina Silberman. “It gives me the courage to perform even when I’m really nervous. If she can do it, than so can I.”
Simon Cowell has also promised Boyle a record contract and has guaranteed it will be a huge hit like previous operatic contestant Paul Potts. She is now slated to go on tour as well.

‘Hannah Montana’ star thanks fans for voting

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Today) 3/29/09 – Despite her unquestioned status as ‘tween queen of the moment, Miley Cyrus apparently thought her star was on the decline. The Disney entertainer’s voice wavered Saturday night, as she accepted one of the trademark orange blimps at Nickelodeon’s 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards.
“I really thought I was gonna lose, so thank you, guys,” Cyrus announced, apparently fighting back tears as she was recognized as Favorite Female Singer at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Rihanna (left) has accused boyfriend Chris Brown (right) of threatening and attacking her in Los Angeles Sunday before the two were expected to attend the Grammy Awards. She has since returned to Brown and is rumored to have married him.

HOLLYWOOD (Hollywood Today/RPRN) 03/20/09 - One of the latest and most disturbing revelations to come out of the sordid Rihanna and Chris Brown affair is a recent study done of 200 Boston area 12-19 year-old in which nearly half of them put the blame for the savage beating on the female part of the equation (52 per cent said “they were both to blame”). Just to clarify, that’s the victim of the beating, the one allegedly strangled to the point of unconsciousness. Somehow, many people are dismayed to realize, these kids believe the woman must be the root of male aggression - that he can’t really be held responsible for his own actions.
