The Queen Mary’s Chill brings holiday cheer and enchantment this holiday season

By Valerie Milano
Long Beach, CA (Hollywood Today) 11/22/13 – For the second year in a row, the famous Queen Mary will deliver North Pole temperatures and holiday cheer to Southern California with their winter wonderland, CHILL.  The frost began last night November 22nd and will be running through January 5th (Tuesdays through Sundays), the Queen Mary waterfront will be transformed into a magical holiday village.

Media and special VIP guests were invited to get a first look at CHILL a day before opening to the public.  The enchanting sights of Candy Lane and the North Pole Village are sure to bring out the child in everyone.  Life-size gingerbread houses, the world’s largest rocking horse, and a snowman bounce house are just the beginning of the fun.

VIP guests were treated to a special performance by pop recording artist Ashlee Keating and members of the Ducks’ Rinks Program Thursday night.  The 6,000 square-foot outdoor ice rink makes for the perfect winter tradition not usually seen in sunny Southern California.  And with skate rentals available on-site for only $2.95, it’s the perfect place to glide around with a spectacular view of The Queen Mary’s beautiful lights.

The most remarkable part of CHILL is found inside the 14,000 square-foot “igloo”.  The Ice Kingdom features two million pounds of ice, hand carved to create a larger than life rendition of The Nutcracker.  Guests receive parkas as they enter the chilly nine degrees Fahrenheit temperature and witness the unforgettable exhibit, complete with a 30’ high replica of The Queen Mary.  Created by an international team of experts from Harbin, China, The Ice Kingdom is a one of a kind experience.

Just outside the igloo you can take a ride down the ice slide on an oversized tube, grab some hot chocolate, delicious food, and watch live entertainment.  CHILL prices start at $29.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids and include The Ice Kingdom and choice of ice skating or ice tubing.  Tickets for additional activities can also be purchased.  Ice skating Season Passes are available for just $29.95 making it an affordable way to have fun this holiday season.  For more information and special lodging packages, visit www.queenmary.com/chill.
