Top Model turned Indie Filmmaker MYC Agnew Returns to Fashion
by JJ Marise
Hollywood, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/17/13 – “There is a great resurgence of very marketable male models like Mark Vanderloo and MYC Agnew. MYC has a great history as a top male model and he’s coming back at the right time. We are hoping he can recapture his well deserved icon status,” says agent Steve Wimbley of Elite Model Management. Known as the first face of GAP, MYC recently signed a worldwide modeling contract with Elite.
In Paris, during the early 1990′s, MYC worked on Versace campaigns with Bruce Webber and shot his iconic Gap campaign, as the first celebrity/model. He worked alongside supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, and Naomi Campbell. MYC walked on runways for Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Vivienne Westwood. He has appeared in print campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Nautica, and Tommy Hilfiger, among others.
“I’m excited for what’s in store for me at Elite and am honored to have the chance to work with them again. I gladly welcome the challenge,” says MYC.
During his modeling career, MYC has said he has always been influenced by films which brought him to explore the world of indie filmmaking. He has held the title of VP of Acquisitions and Development at the independent film company, Vesuvio Entertainment, while assisting his family business, CDH Hardware. After working on projects including The Hillz and Damian Chapa’s thriller Brando Unauthorized, he created his own company Liquid LYT Productions and his first independent feature film, Alone: The Only Thing to Fear is Yourself.
“Film and fashion are similar because it’s kind of an all-or-nothing process. Fashion evokes so many emotions and it’s a really fascinating way to tell a story for the designer. I aim to continue to do that with my filmmaking,” says MYC. “I want to continue to become the ‘designer behind the camera,’ as a way to tell my stories in a dynamic medium.”
By returning to modeling, MYC is planning to work hard to achieve iconic status and benefit his passion and ambitions as a filmmaker.
