The Launch of the 7th Annual BritWeek Festival “A Salute to Old Hollywood”   By Karen Ostlund     Los Angeles CA (Hollywood Today) 4/28/13    The 7th Annual BritWeek Los Angeles launched last Tuesday, April 23rd with an exclusive red carpet reception at the British Consul General’s Residence on June Street  in Hancock Park. British Consul General, Dame Barbara Hay, and Britweek’s Board of Directors hosted the evening, ”A Salute to Old Hollywood Party” to celebrate the launch of                                                 Britweek  2013.

BritWeek is a non-profit organization, started in Los Angeles in 2007 by executive producer of American Idol Nigel Lythgoe and the Consul General Bob Pierce, to highlight the creative fusion between the United Kingdom and California. The red carpet at the private residence of, Dame Barbara Hay, featured an impressive range of special guests including two former James Bonds’, Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby, Mischa Barton, Louise Roe, Nigel Lythgoe and The American Idol Finalists, Lisa Vanderpump, Bruno Tonioli, Laura Pulver, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Jason Isaacs, Julian Sands and the Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa.

Another kickoff was the debut of the Jaguar F-Type, which was on display on the British flag themed red carpet.

On the menu was fish & chips provided by Fig at Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Broker’s Gin cocktails mixed with champagne,  served in Wedgwood teacups.

Old Hollywood style art deco décor inspired attendees as they captured memories in the Boots photo booth with fun props.

Partygoers also enjoyed listening to a 1920’s-esque live band located above the bar to kick off  the two weeks of festivities, celebrating creative fusion between the United Kingdom and California.

BritWeek’s mission is to create greater awareness of the many ways in which Britain and California work closely together, and further build this relationship to advance business &  art –  philanthropy in both of these thriving regions of the world.
