Los Angeles fabulous fashions for the fashionista By Valerie Milano Hollywood, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/24/13 – Fashion Week in LA has come and gone having exhibited the fabulous fall collections and the LA Fashion Council Presentations have all been celebrated. L.A. Fashion Weekend was sponsored by Sunset Gower, Planet Salon, AMP Radio, LA Fashion magazine, FNL, Splash Magazine. The runway fashions featured collections of Ermelinda Manos and Maison de Urbana. Mikey Koffman (The Real L Word) of The Gallery Los Angeles produced the event. The kick-off party for Fashion Weekend at Sunset-Gower Studios was for invited guests and media and it was an opportunity to chat with Executive Producer Mikey Koffman; while sipping cocktails which was sponsored by Leslie Barclay of Diageo. Some of my favorite designers included Ermelinda Mano who showcased 20 designs. Nude fabrics with gorgeous embellishments and embroidery draped to perfection on stunningly tall young models. Stage Presents by Kimberly Caldwell (American Idol) displayed handmade bags, backpacks and totes creatively engineered into scarves or shoulder drapes made with denim and leather. “I’m the designer and creator of stage presents.com. I hand make every single item that I have from bags to cuffs. My new design that I’ve been doing is called the Green Room and a lot of the bags are actually made from vintage mini-skirts or black leather pants into purses and into back packs.” From Bling Designs by S were every accessory imaginable, all blinged beautifully to accompany any outfit. Cell phone covers and charms and bangles adorned with their signature leopard print. HT had a moment to talk to Bling about her concept, she was looking for a project, “something fun, and it came about because I love leopard. That’s just my style, that’s just my thing. And I love bling. So I came up with some stuff and then slowly everyone was like “really wow this is cool” so I turned it into a business” she summed up. Safir Designs blings hip accessories like cuffs & bow ties as well. Samantha Sair said, “”They are for men and for women, they’re unisex.” Then she pointed out Mikey Koffman was rocking a beautiful one. “You can also wear them in your hair, if you’d like, or on your wrist or on your purse,” explained Safir. Her inspiration? “ I’m a ballroom dancer, so they’re dance inspired. This is kind of a take on mass market, the real world that people can actually wear.” She also designed the dresses, a true artist. Sunday evening rounded out the weekend with the LA Fashion Awards, highlighted with Koffman’s clear choice, The Public Counsel. She shared an emotional side while introducing the honor. “Public Counsel is the largest non-profit law firm in the United States and we produce an amazing show for them called Just Fashion every October, it’s our biggest fundraiser show.” Koffman’s grandfather was a war vet “who got buried in the health care system and ended up passing away from… long story.” He explained, “they advocate for veterans rights they also advocate for immigrants rights.” The Public Council, she continued, “come out and they help them. They help amazing children… sorry. They help kids get adopted. I’m all choked up because a secret of my own was I was put in the foster system for a while when I was younger and they were really, really, really amazing people.” Last but definitely not least was hair and makeup touch ups by Planet Salon. Another type of artistry. Their salon is on Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills. I felt like a a queen.
