FL (Hollywood Today)2/20/13/—On Dec 3, 2012, Univision announced the complete list of nominees for the 25th Annual “Premio Lo Nuestro,” in which the hottest Latin recording artist will be competing in 33 different categories. The winners will be announced during a 3-hour gala broadcast that will air live on February 21, 2013 from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Among the top artists nominated and vying for the coveted awards are two Bachata singers, former Aventura front man and leader Romeo Santos, who released “Formula Vol.1,”as a solo effort, competes with Prince Royce the young hearth throb with seven nominations each. Other artist nominated in multiple categories also include reggaeton artist Don Omar who is also tied with the world famous Mexican rock band MANÁ with six nominations each. The late Regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera, who died in a plane crash Dec. 9, 2012, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho, pop duo Jesse & Joy, and electronic music DJ Juan Magán, are all tied and competing in five different categories. Columbia pop/rock singer and songwriter Juanes, who holds the GRAMMY win record for a Latin act after winning in the “Best Latin Pop Album,” category during the 55TH annual GRAMMY Awards held on Sunday-Feb. 10, 2013 for his album MTV Unplugged Deluxe Edition, is also up with fellow rocker Beto Cuevas, ex front man of Chilean Latin rock group La Ley with four nominations each. Pop acts Paulina Rubio, Ricardo Arjona, and Alejandro Sanz, prominent corrido singer Gerardo Ortiz, reggaeton acts Daddy Yankee and the duo Wisin & Yandel, along with tropical fusion duo Chino y Nacho are all competing for three nominations each. Acts nominated in the “New Artists of the Year,” category are DJ Juan Magán, Kary Hernandez, Henry Santos, and recent Latin GRAMMY winners in the “Best New Artists,” category 3BALLMTY. Jenifer Lopez, rappers Pitbull and Flo Rida, and Colombian singer Shakira were among the other artists also nominated. This year 133 nominations in 33 different categories were announced based on data provided by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS), the world’s leading provider of airplay tracking for the entertainment industry. The awards which recognize excellence in five music genres categories (Regional Mexican, Pop, Tropical, Rock/Alternative, and Urban), the “Premio Lo Nuestro,” awards are bestowed yearly in acknowledgement of the artists that receive the most radio airplay during the eligibility period from October 1, 2011 to September 30th, 2012.
