) 1/31/13 - This year, the 50th anniversary of the NATPE Market and Conference saw record number, the highest volume in over five years. The conference was moved a few years ago from Las Vegas to Miami and hosted more than 1000 domestic and international buyers as well as independent distributors, producers, networks and program representatives.
“These numbers signify a much greater opportunity for meaningful business to take place in Miami,” explained NATPE President and CEO., Rod Perth. “We are pleased and gratified to see such enthusiasm from buyers, sellers and attendees, and we are looking forward to a diverse and provocative conference lineup that can help steer us into the future of this ever-changing industry.”
There were several new additions to the conference line up, with many of the speakers come from the digital platform. Keynote speaker Mark Cuban, Co-Founder/Chairman, AXS TV kicked off the event in a question/answer format, Ross Levinsohn, CEO, Guggenheim Digital Media; Alex Carloss, Global Head of Entertainment Partnerships and many more.
Panel events Game Changers, Masters of Messaging, Story Tellers that Shaped the Face of Pop Culture, Technologies That Fuel Multi-Platform Content, Visionaries and Global Navigators featured an impressive line up also.
The Story Tellers track featured Elvis Duran of Clear Channel Media & Entertainment host of “Elvis Duran & The Morning Show,” moderated a panel called “Music that Drives TV…. and TV that Drives Music: Multi-Talented Artists in a Multi-Platform World.
At Game Changers one of the highlights was a new panel, Deborah McDermott, President-CEO of Young Broadcasting, LLC, in a conversation moderated by Harry Jessell, Editor of TVNewsCheck.
