Anaheim, Calif.)Hollywood Today)1/28/13/–Former N.Y. Yankee Jazz guitarist Bernie Williams and a cappella group Take6 perform during NAMM Foundation’s Support Music Coalition 10th year celebration. Governor Mike Huckaabee, Bob Morrison, President and CEO Quadrant Arts Education Research, Steve West of West Music who was former chairman of NAMM, John Mahlmann, former executive director of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Michael Butera, executive director of NAfME, Mike Blakeslee, COO of NAfME were among the special guest who attended the live webcast event moderated by NAMM CEO and President, Joe Lamond.
Since its creation in 2003 in a partnership between NAMM and NAfME, Mary Luehrsen, NAMM director of public affairs and government relations, has guided the Coalition who’s public service initiative has been to advocate for music education in local communities all over United States and abroad supporting 340 regional, national, and international organizations with a goal of improving and making it possible for music and arts in school to flourish.
“This is a celebration of 10 years of advocacy guiding us into the next 10,” said Luerhsen. “For the last decade we have promoted a proactive positive approach to celebrating music and arts education and local support is growing because we care deeply about children, their education and the role music plays in their life.”
