Christa Miller, ‘year of her cleavage’

Pasadena, CA (Hollywood Today) 1/5/12 – “I think unless you’re lucky enough to be a hit today, your goal in network television and off net television, specifically, is just to stay alive,” explained show creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence about Jules Cobb and her crazy band of friends from the cul de sac moving “Cougar Town” from ABC to TBS.
As ABC still actually owns and produces the show, Lawrence wasn’t going to do any network bashing at the press conference Friday. Maybe it was the Mimosas they were serving?
Jules, played by Courtney Cox who is also the executive producer, returns newly wed but apparently the only change we’ll really notice “is that we’ve shifted from Brian Van Holt not wearing his shirt all the time to Josh Hopkins not wearing his shirt all the time.”
“Hence I’m in the gym at 7:00 in the morning, “ added Van Holt.
Season 4 will be focused on the characters and their relationships, promised Lawrence, but the first few episodes will concentrate on the newlyweds Jules and Greyson, (Josh Hopkins). The “Moonlighting” curse is not something he’s falling for, “I don’t believe in TV curses, you know, said Lawrence, “I think it’s just as big a burden to try and keep doing will they or won’t they when so many people have done it so well.”
The idea of changing the name from “Cougar Town” which implies older women and younger men, Lawrence and the crew have chosen to enjoy the whole situation, “being filled with self loathing is a characteristic of 90 percent of comedy writers in the world anyways. So to continue on that tack with the title “Cougar Town” is it’s part of the game for us now. But I’ve embraced it. It’s an amazing title. I’d do it again.” (Shaking his head no.)
After coming to terms with the idea, “we decided the show was about adult friendship and really what it means to while away your 40s with your friends, drinking wine, having dinner, hanging out, it just felt like kind of an organic thing to do and easy thing to write about.”
Teaser – viewers can look forward to Jules and Greyson incorporating “naked day, you know, where you spend the whole day naked. But there happens to be only one spot in the house that I can stand in where the light comes from all angles,” said Cox.
“And we all come over and are unfazed by both of them naked, which irritates Josh to no end,” teased Christa Miller, (neighbor and friend Ellie Miller).
Oh, and she has declared this season the ‘year of her cleavage’, “You will not see one scene that I don’t show my boobs. You know what. I’m getting older. I’m getting older, so I’ve decided at this point I’m taking the focus off the face. I’m focusing here. That’s what I’m doing. By the time I’m much older, I will just be absolutely nude. I think it’s going to work for me. I hope.”
