Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood Today) 12/17/12 – They are still alive and well, Santa and Michael Des Barres. One of Hollywood’s favourite British rockers, singer-guitarist Michael Des Barres has written and recorded a fun song for the yule season about Santa Claus getting ‘Chimney Fit’!
Michael co-wrote “Rock N’ Roll Santa” with his friend and collaborator Paul Ill. He recorded it in LA at Psychedelic Shack studio. Des Barres plays all of the instruments on the track.
Half the proceeds from all sales of “Rock N’ Roll Santa” will go to Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization transforming children’s lives by restoring and revitalizing music education in disadvantaged public schools across America. The song is available on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby.
Michael Des Barres has been busy in the clubs and giving interviews to promote his 2012 new album, Carnaby Street. Michael is a rocker and then some; as he has been in the entertainment scene for over four decades and counting. His achievement résumé includes his band Detective which was signed by Jimmy Page to Swan Song in the 70s; plus touring as the frontman for The Power Station in the 80s; and he wrote the universal #1 hit “Obsession” for Animotion plus check out IMDB for all his movie and TV credits.
In the holiday animated video, Santa Michael Des Barres sings: “Santa looks great. Santa lost weight. He’s a rock n’ roll Santa and he’s getting in shape…” It is a catchy song and an audio reminder to the listener about moderation and exercise.
Michael got involved with Little Kids Rock through his music friend Steve Van Zandt as Little Steven has raised money to get instruments to inner city kids who are unable to afford them. As well, the radio show, Little Steven’s Underground Garage has been an ardent supporter of Michael’s latest album on his radio show with some of his new songs on the weekly play rotation list. Michael performed with Bruce Springsteen in NY for the Right 2 Rock concert in Oct. 2012 which raised almost a million dollars for the charity.
