The Shemie Paparazzi Protector

Shelton Wilder Raising funds via Kickstarter.com to manufacture the Shemie

By JJ Marise

Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood Today)  11/2/12 – “Thrilled for the exposure from Shark Tank, it was like having a $2 million commercial for The Shemie, I am more driven than ever to make this a successful launch and solve a wardrobe malfunction for women,” says The Shemie designer Shelton Wilder.

Created by Los Angeles-based stylist and entrepreneur, Shelton Wilder, her designs include a romper called Paparazzi Protector, the answer to those sexy dresses women love to wear but fear exposure. Wilder’s inspiration for The Shemie came after years of struggling to successfully style her clients in undergarments due to clothing styles that were too sheer, too low cut or too short.

The Shemie, debuted nationally on ABC’s Shark Tank on Friday Oct 26th, and did not secure a deal with the Sharks.  Immediately following her appearance, she launched a fundraising campaign via the popular crowd-funding site, Kickstarter.com.  Wilder sought the help of her Shark Tank fans and supporters to reach the goal of $29,000 in 30 days to start production in her home state of North Carolina.  (As the time of this article posting, the funds raised are $20,721 from 128 backers).   http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1670268821/shemie-layer-with-love

Since appearing on Shark Tank, she has received inquires from potential investors and orders from boutiques, online stores and major retailers.

The Shemie – Meet the Parents

“I designed The Shemie,  to be worn as a layering piece or by itself, not to be a fat dislocater/shaper.” said Wilder. “I realized my biggest issue in dressing modern day women while trying to make my clients look beautiful at the same time was the absence of a simple staple from the past, the slip!”

In addition to the “Paparazzi Protector,” the other styles include a scoop neck ‘slip’, called “Meet the Parents,” providing coverage without bust line exposure and a camisole, named “The Hoppy Top.” All garments are opaque and made of a nylon/spandex blend with adjustable straps in sizes 0-22, and designed to be worn casually or athletically.
