Marina del Rey, CA(Hollywood Today)10/16/12/—RITZ CARLTON HOTEL, MARINA del Rey, CA, October 16, 2012 Zoe Friedman, announces the date, 3-27-13 for the Transforming The World Through Comedy http://www.twtcomedy.com/) 2013 world –wide fund raiser for Malaria No More ( www.malarianomre.org

Friedman the daughter of comedy legend Bud Freedman and a former executive at Comedy Central once again headed up a lively panel discussion wrapping up this year’s Digital Comedy Summit at Digital Hollywood, 2012.  Ms. Friedman’s panel included Kevin Pollack the veteran comic/actor, and host of the Kevin Pollack Chat Show, Mike Farah the President of Production at Funny or Die, Christopher Brereton the guru behind PictureHealing, an app for charitable fund raising on the macro level, Liz H. Kelly founder of the Goody Awards, and by Joel Goldman the Director of Entertainment relations for Malaria No More.

Mr. Goldman is adopting a novel tactic; he is using digital media and edgy comedy to attract a broader audience to Malaria No More. He alluded to the days of the rubber chicken banquet and the stayed garden party as fading fast.  Using comedy, as a means to give back is a good way to manage “the guilt of not having a real job for the last thirty years”, quipped Kevin Pollack.

Then a video of actor Nick Kroll as the sinfully tasteless Bobby Bottleservice, shot on location in Sudan, which can be seen on Funny or Die, “Nick Kroll Gets Serious” played.  Bottleservice/ Kroll feigns opening a hip-hop club for mosquitoes as he stumbles and rants his way around an actual village.  It played to guffaws and chortles,  yet can’t help but paint a vivid picture of life in the Sudan.

Some sound advice from Industry pros Mike Farah, Funny or Die and Liz H. Kelly, Goody Awards, add in a scary Christopher Walken impersonation by Mr. Pollack  and it was time for cocktails by the pool to commemorate the end of day one. Its clear Hollywood is going Digital and Digital Hollywood is growing fast.  Digital will begin eclipsing Broadcast media but content will always be king.

Digital Hollywood continues through Thursday the 18 of October at the Ritz Carlton, Marina del Rey, California.  For those who can’t attend live it is being streamed at www.oovoo.com/digitalhollywood
