“The products were great and the best part was that it was for a good cause”
By Jasmine Zink
Los Angeles, CA(Hollywood Today)9/24/12/—The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards have finally arrived and along with it various gifting suites and lounges. The only gifting lounge on the actual premise where the Emmy’s takes place was ”The Presenters Gift Lounge backstage at the Nokia Theatre.” Although it is one of the smaller gifting suites, there were plenty of fantastic products being featured over two days. Additionally, this was one of the few gifting suites that is charity driven and is based on donations from individuals in the entertainment industry. The main sponsors of this program were Bertolli Sauces and Frozen Meals as well as Emergen-C. There was no shortage of celebrities showing up such as Lucy Liu, starring in the new television series Elementary, Melissa McCarthy from Mike & Molly, and Kerry Washington from Scandal. A slew of actors and actresses have been coming in and out of this particular gifting lounge to check out the new products as well as to donate to their favorite charities.
One of the booths at the lounge was for Emergen-C, one of the main sponsors for the Emmy’s backstage gift lounge. Emergen-C is a supplement that can be mixed into water and can provide Vitamin C, Vitamin B, as well as other nutritional vitamins for energy. Their booth had both a super-hero theme making it one of the brightest and biggest booths in the lounge. The company was offering one year of unlimited supply of their product to any celebrity that came to visit their booth. One of the questions the Emergen-C group asked each celebrity when they walked through was ”If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?” Kerry Washington’s response was “If I could have a superpower I would want to have the ability to open people’s hearts.” She also claimed that her favorite Emergen-C was the pink lemonade flavor. According to the Emergen-C PR personnel, many celebrities love their product because they travel so frequently and can use it as a source of energy as well as to prevent them from catching a cold. Most of the time they heard about the product from their stunt doubles who love to use Emergen-C so they can keep up their immune system.
Another booth at the lounge was Shellac nail polish promoting their “Power Polish.” The company has a new innovative polish line called “Power Polish” which lasts up to fourteen days and causes absolutely no nail damage. They are launching an additional six new colors in November. Kerry Washington was proudly wearing their product for the Emmy’s and chose to go with the colors “Cocoa” and “Romantique.” The Shellac ambassadors frequent many major Hollywood studios such as Paramount to use their products on set. I was lucky enough to get the chance to get my nails done in the color “Midnight Swim” which has not yet been released. The quality is incredible and the new colors look perfect for the fall season. I am definitely excited to try out their products again In the near future.
Paper Denim & Cloth was another designer that was showing their products at the Emmy’s gift lounge. The owner and CEO of the company, Alex, is re-launching her denim line on October 1. She already has a huge following with celeb favs include Hugh Jackman and Gwenyth Paltrow, just to name a few. Their line is easy to love by both men and women since they are versatile for both men and women. Alex stated that fashion may come and go but jeans are always going to be a staple in every individual’s wardrobe. Her look book is very reliant on today’s social and interactive media. All the photos were taken and processed through instagram allowing individuals who are not familiar with the brand to have the ability to relate and to make a connection. The line appeals to everyone and gives off an effortless “cool.” After taking a hiatus in 2006, Alex is planning on coming back and taking over the denim industry all over again and fashionistas are anticipating the arrival of her new line.
Black & Decker was also there to promote their new Platinum Series handheld vacuums. Launching on October 1, their new line is flexible and comes in cordless version as well. They were giving fun demonstrations showing the capabilities of the vacuum. Lucy Liu loves the product because she complains of her dog shedding all over the house and thought this would be a great product to use. The vacuum will be available for purchase both on their website as well as on Amazon.
Overall the backstage gifting lounge was small and intimate helping to give it an air of exclusivity. Many actors and actresses have helped to keep this event around through their donations and through their involvement. The products were great and the best part was that it was for a good cause. Everything from beauty to food to fashion products were on display for people in the entertainment industry to view. With so much support, the gifting suite was a great success.

Kat Dennings
Fair skin beauty and star of the comedy series “2 Broke Girls“, Kat Dennings, arrived to The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards alongside her handsome beau, Nick Zano. The two were described as a “walking comedy routine” by onlookers, posing with matching Miami Dolphins hats from New Era Cap Co. and calling their fedora’s “fedorable”. Between stealing kisses and calling each other “babe” the two shared some funny lines that had the lounge in hysterics — with Nick saying that “even Kat got a tan” due to the extreme Los Angeles heat. The two enhanced their natural energy at Emergen-C, checking out their favorite flavors, and got playful with the Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums. When Kat started vacuuming, Nick jumped in and said “let’s get her a couple of these please” only to have Kat fire back with “yes so I can charge them before he uses them”. The two scored the new TiVo® Premiere 4 DVR with Product Lifetime Service and New Balance Minimus 1010 sneakers before heading out to enjoy the show.
James Van Der Beek
The one time Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek, has gone from a teenage girl heartthrob to a domestic family man. The actor, who now stars in the hit series “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23“, was overheard telling a bystander at The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards that he was pressed for time since he had to “rush home to tend to his little ones”. James’ eyes lit up however, when he saw the new Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums, saying “these are perfect for all those Cheerios the kids leave under the couch”. Described as “quite the Dad” by onlookers, James later scored some jewelry from the Jill Reno Collection and was excited to bring the sparkly new gifts home to his daughter and wife. The relatively new father later expressed his love for running, saying that it’s the ultimate “stress reliever” and was psyched when he got the New Balance Minimus 1010′s. On his way out, he checked out the caps from New Era Cap Co. and was perplexed as to which one to choose saying “I run all fashion decisions by my wife”…guess he’s become quite the homebody!
Ginnifer Goodwin
Pint-size starlet Ginnifer Goodwin arrived to The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards in a patterned suit that she described as her “go-to get-up”. The Once Upon a Time actress was overheard telling a fellow partygoer that she’s very aware of her style and that she “rarely just throws on whatever”. Style is important to the pixie-haired actress and made it known that she likes to “pick and choose” her wardrobe wisely. Later, Ginnifer got excited when she noticed her hit ABC series on the TiVo® Premiere 4 DVR television screen saying “I don’t mind watching myself” and opted to stand and watch a few minutes of her work. When reminded of her previous roles, she released a sigh of nostalgia and said “that was back when my hair was long…”. On her way out, Ginnifer stopped by Emergen-C packed with vitamins to help support her energy for TV’s biggest night, and then put on over-sized shades for a dramatic exit out the door. She told onlookers that, “if I could have a superpower, I would cure cancer.”
Melissa McCarthy
Funny lady Melissa McCarthy may be famous for her on-screen antics but at home she’s just a regular mother of two with everyday problems. The “Mike and Molly” actress arrived to The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards in a red, flowing top, red pants and no makeup. After checking out the Emergen-C booth, at which she stated Super Orange was her favorite flavor and the family goes through it at a shocking rate, she spotted the Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums across the room and clapped her hands in excitement. “I have a five year-old and a two year-old at home so nothing looks better than these!” the actress was overheard exclaiming. She tested the vacuums by sucking up snacks, reassuring onlookers that “this is exactly what I’ve been looking for, my kids are constantly dumping snacks out on the floor for fun.” After stating she was particularly excited by the rotating nozzle feature, McCarthy moved on to take a look at the TiVo® Premiere 4 DVR which also made her day as she “still uses the very first version” of the product so was definitely “due for an upgrade.” Looks like the star catches some “mommy time” relaxing in front of reruns. Lastly, she was excited to stop by the Zerona booth for a gift card.
Damon Wayans, Jr.
Damon Wayans, Jr. star of hit show, “Happy Endings” stopped by The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards, and after picking up a large-faced Aquaswiss Watch, treated himself to a little pampering at the CND Shellac™ manicure station, joking that he wanted only the “hottest color of the season” but eventually settled on just a relaxing hand massage. Though clearly secure with his masculinity, the actor then redeemed his manhood by checking out baseball caps from New Era Cap Co., stating, “I’m from Vermont, I don’t have a home team!” However, after refusing to even touch a San Francisco ‘49ers hat, the comedian chose to represent New England with a blue and white topper. While then perusing the Jill Reno Collection jewelry, he mentioned that, though once a fan of jewelry, he no longer wears it himself, mentioning that “his lady,” however, loves to don baubles. “She has more of a classic, conservative style than edgy – and she loves gold!” he said. When asked who the special lady in his life was, the actor kept quiet, saying, “she’s just so great” but refusing to give any names. Apparently his significant other does have some not-so-perfect traits, though. When asked where he would use the Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums, he stated, “my girlfriend’s hair sheds like crazy! It gets everywhere, I can’t believe it’s possible for someone to lose that much hair – you can’t keep up with the mess it makes!” He then posed for pictures, showing the best technique used to clean up shedding – directly vacuuming his own head.
Ron Howard
Entertainment industry legend, Ron Howard, stopped by The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards before the Emmys this Saturday. Upon arrival, he checked out Emergen-C, telling Host, Micah Jesse that Super Orange was his favorite flavor because it reminded the actor/director, who starred in “Happy Days,” of Tang, the popular drink of the show’s era. When asked where he’s residing these days, he said, “we really live in New York – we have an apartment in Santa Monica but most of our time is spent at our houses in Manhattan and Westchester County.” He went on to explain that he “grew up in Los Angeles and loves it here, but New York is now home.” Despite his level of stardom, Howard was incredibly kind and gracious to everyone during the hour he spent in the Gift Lounge, which he visited “directly off of a flight from NYC.”
Mario Lopez
Mario Lopez seemed relaxed and in high-spirits when he entered The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards. Joined by his Extra crew, Mario caused quite the stir when he posed in the phone booth at the Emergen-C City of Inner Strength station and accidentally yanked out the phone. Embarrassed, he yelled “I had one sip of Emergen-C and now I’m the Incredible Hulk!”. Later, he was psyched when he scored custom-fitted earphones from Ultimate Ears by Logitech and even took photos of himself on his iPhone using his new toy. When Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums came into his sight, he rushed over to make sure that he got his hands on them saying, “my daughter spills anything and everything in her treehouse. She needs to learn how to use these!”. Described as “energetic and gracious” Mario was thrown off, when his Extra co-host Maria Menounos began heckling him about his hometown city San Diego as he wore his San Diego Chargers cap from New Era Cap Co. proudly. Maria shouted “let’s see which team wins the super bowl, Mario!” who is a die-hard New England Patriots fan. Both laughed it off and parted ways, but not before scoring sleek new New Balance Minimus 1010 sneakers.
Hayden Panettiere
Tiny starlet Hayden Panettiere made an appearance at The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards on Sunday. She looked gorgeous, stopping first at Emergen-C, and then making a beeline for sneakers at the New Balance booth, exclaiming that she wanted them in every color because they looked so cool. When asked what kind of workouts she does, she mentioned that her recent move to Nashville for work had resulted in an increased need for running because of the local cuisine, “it’s all BBQ and I love it way too much,” she confessed. “So I now have to run a lot more than I used to, I try to run every day if I’m not too tired.” She then went on to complain that her feet happened to be incredibly tired and sore from the shoes she was wearing at the time, remarking that she would much rather have had the sneakers on right then. Hayden also got excited about the new TiVo Premiere 4 DVR with Product Lifetime Service!
Edie Falco/Glen Close/Christine Baransky/Ed O’Neill
Edie Falco looked stunning and healthier than ever when she arrived at The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards on Sunday. She wondered around the lounge, vibing to the music and looking in wonderful spirits as she perused the Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums until Glen Close, who looked equally beautiful, approached her to say hello and compliment her on her dress. “Oh, I cannot believe how comfortable it is!” Falco replied, “I think it’s because it’s so stretchy. Either way it’s making this a wonderful event.” About 20 minutes later, she spotted Christine Baransky and jumped up and down, running over to give her a hug as Christine shouted, “mom’s night off for both of us!!” The two continued to catch up until Modern Family star, Ed O’Neill approached Baransky, telling her “she looked absolutely incredible” and asking her what she does to work out nowadays. To which she responded that she maintained the same fitness routine she had always had, she just worked a little harder now. The pair, who appear to be old friends, went on to speak about the good old days, joking that they seem to be working a little less hard in every other aspect of their lives now than they did when they were younger but, as Baransky pointed out, “we worked our butts off when we were young, though, that’s how we got to where we are now. We did have a lot of crazy times and laughs along the way, though, didn’t we?” To which O’Neill agreed, shaking his head and laughing. She bid adieu to her old pal to catch up with Glenn Close who also told her she looked terrific to which she replied, “yeah, but other people were getting a tan off of my dress,” referring to the gold sequined mini dress she donned to the event. “I just got sick of dragging a train around, though, you know?” Close shook her head, saying that she truly almost wore her Cruella Deville boots because they were made out of a material that kept your legs and feet cool. When Close moved on to inspect some New Era Cap Co. hats, her husband stood behind her, explaining that he just learned she had a small head, saying, “that’s why she fluffs up her hair, to hide that tiny noggin.” Close also hammed it up with her hubby at the Zerona booth…where she scored a gift card for the much-buzzed about body-sculpting treatments.
Brooke Burke Charvet
The fit beauty turned heads in a stunning gold dress while escorted by her sexy husband David Charvet when the two entered The Emergen-C Gift Lounge Backstage at The Nokia Theatre in Celebration of the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards. The Dancing on the Stars winner was overheard telling a bystander that the key to making their relationship work is “to make as much time for each other as possible”. With David by her side, the loving duo made one another their top priority – always looking out to make sure each is close by. As Brooke was photographed, David let his leading lady be the star of the show, opting for more of a backseat role which he seemed to enjoy. Later, when Brooke ran into fellow Dancing with the Stars cast mate and judge Carrie Ann Inaba, the two got playful at Black & Decker PLATINUM Hand Vacuums and posed for photos with the New Balance Minimus 1010. When the body conscious twosome stopped by Zerona to learn more about the new body-sculpting treatments, Brooke spoke about her fitness regime saying, “it’s easy, I just never skip a meal”. Must be hard to stay fit with kids? She was overheard telling onlookers about her superpower, “I’m super at driving my kids around!”
