Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hollywood Today) 8/28/12 – Toronto may be far from Tinseltown with all its celebrities and “industry” connections but according to the Toronto Film and Television Office, the city of Toronto saw a  25% increase in total film production in 2011 from 2010 and production companies spent a grand total of $1.13 billion filming on-location.  With such growth and  promises for upcoming and established actors, the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television – a private career college-  is offering this coming October its new film and television acting full-time program.

The program known as “ESSENTIALS FOR FILM AND TELEVISION ACTING” consists of 360 hours of training within a four-month frame.

The whole concept behind the program is to permit potential actors to find out if they have what it takes to make it in the acting world in a short time, without wasting years and a busload of money. Susan J. Burych, the founder of the Academy, said in a press release, “It’s not enough to offer acting classes anymore. I wanted to develop a program that will enlighten students whether they have or don’t have the right stuff to make it in this highly competitive business without breaking the bank.” Burych adds,” I believe that we have succeeded and are offering this program not only at the right time but also at the right place. Let’s not forget that Toronto employs 25,000 workers in the film industry alone. “Total Recall” starring Colin Farrell just wrapped its shoot, securing this city as a destination for the film industry. It’s promising.”

Luke Bilyk best known for his role as “Drew Torres” in Degrassi is a former student of the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television.

What makes the “ESSENTIALS FOR FILM AND TELEVISION ACTING” program particularly compelling to its student body is that graduates will not only been taught the camera skills and acting tools necessary to make it in the acting world but through it’s mentoring program may be offered working opportunities with film companies involved with the Acting Academy and or meet Agents.

The Academy was founded in 1997 and has attracted students from all over the world, with many of them moving on to know great success. Look at Luke Bilyk, a former student of the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television, who is best known for his role on Degrassi as Drew Torres and who has been signed by the prestigious William Morris Agency.  Just proving that a good education can lead to great success!
