Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood Today) 02/20/12—“Leonardo Live” is a cinema event that showcased the largest collection of Da Vinci works at the sold-out exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan” on Thursday night.
The actual exhibit took place at the U.K. National Gallery in November 2011.
The pre-show included an audience-engaging multiple-choice quiz on the life and art of Leonardo da Vinci, such as what Biblical moment the “Last Supper” portrayed or how many pages of notes Da Vinci wrote (13,000 pages).
“Leonardo Live,” presented by much respected art historian Tim Marlow and presenter Mariella Frostrup, takes viewers through a virtual tour of the exhibit along with exclusive commentary by curators and professors. The exhibit focused on how Da Vinci painted love, romance, body, soul and the Divine.
The event featured a full-scale copy of the “Last Supper,” both versions of “Virgin of the Rocks” belonging to the National Gallery and the Louvre, the “Madonna Lita,” the “Belle Ferrionière,” “The Musician in Milan,” and the newly rediscovered portrait “Salvator Mundi.”
The event, captured in HD, was presented by NCM Fathom, BY Experience and PhilGrabskyFilms.com.
The cinema version of Da Vinci’s exhibit truly touched my heart. It is said that there will probably never be such a showcasing of his many masterpieces again. I really wish I could have seen it live, but am grateful for the opportunity I had.
