JONAH HILL FETED & INNER CITY ARTS GALA
By Marci Weiner
Beverly Hills, CA(Hollywood Today)1/24/12/—Newly svelte actor Jonah Hill was toasted at a Gala Cocktail Party at the Beverly Hills home of Oscar nominated writers and actors Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna. Hill, who was nominated for a myriad of awards for his standout performance in Moneyball, including a Golden Globe, SAG Award, a BAFTA Nomination and possibly an Oscar was feted by such former award winners as Elliott Gould, Shirley Jones, Frances Fisher and the big guy himself, Quinton Aaron (Blind Side).
Hill has certainly made friends in high places. Oscar Winner Dustin Huffman, who retains a fatherly interest in his career, originally mentored him. As a matter of fact, there is talk that the young actor is now romantically involved with Dustin’s Daughter, Ali Hoffman. He spent the Holidays with the Hoffman family during the holidays.
Hostess Renee Taylor has a definite connection to Hill. Best known for her role as Fran Drescher’s irrepressible Mom in The Nanny, the Emmy Winning actress is now the voice of Principal Gottlieb in Jonah Hill’s animated Fox TV series, Allen Gregory. She is also currently co-starring on the CBs hit series, Two Broke Girls.
And last but not least, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, who let Hill live in their New Orleans home for four months while he was filming 21 Jump Street, recently attended his Birthday party at La Descarga in Hollywood. With pals like these – there is no stopping Hill!
Others enjoying the 70 gourmet pizzas made from scratch in the Bologna’s wood fired oven included Esai Morales, Thora Birch, Publicist about Town, Edward Lozzi,
Dyan Canon and Robert Forster, who was nominated for an Oscar himself for his role in Jackie Brown. He currently can be seen in the hit flick The Descendents.
At another event at the Beverly Hilton, Inner-City Arts honored Colleen Bell, Director of Special Projects at Bell-Phillips TV, artist Sarah Nazarian, and Dreamworks Animation.
The gala featured the culinary skills of celebrated chefs including Suzanne Goin of Lucques, Nancy Silverton (Massa) and Suzanne Tracht of Jar Restaurant. The best news is that they raised more than $1 million to benefit programs for at-risk youth.
Comedian Paul Reiser (Mad About You) presented the Philanthropic Leadership Award to Bell, who produces the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful, which airs in over 100 countries.
Kudos go to the actress Eva La Rue (CSI Miami) and Craig and Marion Benell who co-chaired the gala
Did you know that during their recent visit to L.A? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Catherine Middleton) visited this organization and joined an audience of 125 children to watch a performance of the Inner-City Arts Repertory Dance Company?
A most worthwhile cause indeed!
