NAMM 2012: Brian Wilson Accepts “MUSIC FOR LIFE” Award

Anaheim, CA(Hollywood Today)1/19/12/--- The 110th NAMM SHOW is presented by the National Association Of Musical Merchants and again this year it takes up almost every square foot of the Anaheim Convention Center with 1,400 exhibitors and an excepted 90,000 registrants.

The press preview made point that this year is the year of the APPS. From miniature recording studios to guitar and instrument amplifications and effects the direction is making the traditional a thing of the past and proving it can all fit in your pocket or computer/tablet case.

Mike Nesmith’sSunset Sam” evolved now to guitarist with an Ipad and a Marshall stack playing a multi track effect tunes as he roller skates through Venice Beach.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd demonstrated this and announce too that Guitar World’s Lick Of The Day has surpassed the one million mark in downloads. Showing his tablet app made by AMPKIT he can now play his amp and stage effects through his tablet PC or any other electronic interface that it can plug into. A new exhibition area devoted to apps has been created this year for this fast moving industry.

Michelle Phillips from the Mama’s and Pap’s appeared and was presented with a tribute guitar made by Martin Guitar Company. Also on hand were  John Phillip’s son Jeffrey and Mam Cass’s daughter were also there in the spotlight.

Brian Wilson made a very brief appearance to accept the “Music For Life” award and answer some Q&A from NAMM’s CEO/President Joe Lamond.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee spoke most articulately about NAMM’s “WANNA PLAY FUND” that put quality musical instruments into the hands of young people with desire to make music.
