Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood Today) 11/11/11—Heavy metal legend Black Sabbath announced they will record their first studio album in 33 years, followed by a world tour in 2012. The group, who will team up with legendary producer Rick Rubin to record the new material, made the announcement Friday at a press conference held in L.A.’s Whiskey A-Go-Go.
The quartet, made up of front-man Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward, pioneered the heavy metal genre with hits like “Paranoid,” “War Pigs” and “Iron Man.” Since their formation in 1968, they have sold more than 70 million records world-wide.
Black Sabbath will headline the 10th Download Festival, which will be held next summer in Donington Park, England. The last album they released as a group was 1968’s “Never Say Die!”
For Black Sabbath fans, they hope the group never will.
