THE FUTURE OF THE FUTURE

Interview with Tibor Balogh, CEO of Holografika Kft.

By Jon Stolzberg

Hollywood, CA(Hollywood Today)9/22/11/—The 4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit had a lot to offer those attending at Hollywood & Highland this year.  There were l 3D displays on exhibit along with designer 3D glasses, projection screens, and other products.

One company that stood out, Budapest-based Holografika, didn’t have their product on display – only a video showing their large-scale holographic display system in action.  In a word:  true 3D without glasses!

The key to understanding why this is so cool is that a holographic screen is very different from a stereoscopic screen.  In stereoscopy, there are only two images – left and right – and no matter where you are in the theater, every viewer sees the same two images, forming a 3D image in their mind.  Holografika uses multiple light engines on screen surface that has a holographic structure.  The screen separates the multiple views into different light paths – as you look at a 3D scene on a holographic screen it looks different depending on your angle of view.  There is perspective that shifts with the viewing angle.

Everyone would like to go to a 3D movie and not have to wear the dreaded glasses – is Holografika the solution ?  What are the other possible applications of this “emerging photonic technology” ?

Here is an interview with CEO Tibor Balogh discussing this groundbreaking technology, and explaining why he didn’t have the rig on site in L.A. –  they’re looking for the right project to introduce it with…  More information at http://www.holografika.com.
