The Museum’s Latino Heritage Festival will be music to your ears. At noon, the Alina & The Fiesta Dancers will inspire visitors with traditional music and folk dances from Mexico and Cuba. At 2.pm., Grupo Romance will add lyrics to the program and transport you to Latin America with distinctively Latin rhythms. They will be followed by the Moonlight Trio at 3 p.m. Brazil’s talents will be represented by martial arts experts, who perform starting at 1 p.m.
Docent tours of the Mexican Modernism exhibition will be offered at 1:30 and 3:30. At 2 p.m., there will also be a panel discussion with curators and art historians. The program highlights the works of Mexican muralists and shows how their techniques inspired leading American artists of the 20th Century. José Clemente Orozco and Diego Rivera lead the list of over two dozen artists whose works are on display. This will be the first major opening of an exhibition in the regional Pacific Standard Time art show program.
