HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 2/27/11 – You don’t have to bring home the gold to win at the Oscars. The losing nominees will get a gift bag worth more than $75,000 (perhaps much more) in a swag bag titled “Everybody Wins at the Oscars.”

The bags are delivered the next day so nominees don’t have to carry the booty around at the Academy Awards and parties and will make even losing more bearable to these saddened souls. We are not sure which of the following items are delivered separately, but the basic package contains most of the following:

The losing stars will have no shortage of places to go to drown their sorrows. They will get a $12,000 Belize getaway in Cayo Espanto — a private island, a $5,000 all-inclusive week-long fitness retreat from Live In Fitness Enterprise and a $16,000 all-inclusive getaway to Huvafen Fushi luxury resort in the Maldives compliments of Premier Tours. They can entertain themselves with their new Motorola Zoom Tablet.

The winners get a secret bag that has been as hard to track down as UK urban street artist Banksy. It is worth twice the price to reportedly include 21 stays, three nights each, at a luxury hotel, according to LA Weekly.  A $151,200 value, though we could not confirm this one. If so, it raises the value of the package to nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

The losers will have plenty of new duds to wear as the pricey package includes fashions and jewelry such as the Kim Kardashian Signature Watch by The Brissmor Company, Couture tunics, Italian silk neckwear w/ Swarovski crystals & gift certificate. $875.

After all that 5-star wining and dining these poor things will need to slim down again. Their bag includes Huntley Drive Fitness personal training packages and a slimming body wrap, plus 10 personal-training sessions valued at $850.

And if they had a REALLY wild time one night, the swag bag includes Wreaking Balm Tattoo Removal.  And if their wild night turned into a couple of weeks, there is always the stem cell-based anti-aging serum worth $375.

There are a dozen other curious gifts like: a limited edition spaceship model from Virgin Galactic, which coincidentally is looking to tickets on its new flights to the heavens at a reported $200,000 a seat,  a Persian medallion from Shokoufeh Malekkiani benefiting the United Nations World Food Programme in Iran, all-natural dog-cleaning supplies, including “Doggie Slobber Window & Glass Cleaner,” “Doggie Doo Doo Oxy Stain Remover” and Blu Cigs special edition electronic cigarettes.

Since many of them have been getting other pricey goodie bags all week, it pays to be a loser. Not bad for being a bridesmaid, not a bride on Oscar night.

Let’s see… a show supposedly taped out of America, that America doesn’t watch or has heard of… that isn’t seen or broadcast within America… about an industry America never watched, noticed or heard of that is targeted at America. And this is called entertainment… FAIL!!

The Oscar Winners and Losing Goody or Swag Bag, is a marketing stimulus for brands, like the tax cuts for the real rich has a spending stimulus, for this dying economy.

[...] Even if this pickiness is nothing more than a PR stunt it raises the interesting spectre of what you do as a brand when your self-appointed ambassadors aren’t people you want in your crowd. Wouldn’t it be great if a whole alternative blackmail celebrity marketing economy emerged, with stars holding brands to ransom, threatening to alienate the target market unless they were paid not to endorse. Guerilla tactics as unpopular politicians were sent free samples of until-then cool kit, and cult, under-the-radar brands got placed in Oscar goodie bags… [...]
