HOLLYWOOD,CA(Hollywood Today)10/25/2010–When veteran commercial Director/Cameraman Michael Givens was approached by Miami based independent film production company Cinema Island Productions to direct a comedy about two brothers who inherit a restaurant, he had a better idea.  While on a break between commercial shoots in Europe Givens sequestered himself in a hotel room in Milan Italy and rewrote the comedy as an edgy tale of rock-n-roll redemption.  Angel Camouflaged was born.  Cinema Island Productions loved the new script but where do you find an actress who can play a fierce “rock tigress” and write the movies sound track as well;  Avril Levine, Nelly Frutado- not on this budget!

Oddly enough Givens a South Carolina native and his young family had been fans of Dilana Robichaux as she competed on the reality show Rock Star Supernova.  He admits to huddling around the TV each week with his family to vote for her via cell phone.  When Producer Kenny Dalton mentioned that” chick” from the reality show, Givens blurted out Dilana’s name.

The Producers and Givens shot a scene from the screenplay in which Sally B’s (Robichaux) boyfriend steels the Airstream trailer in which she is living, heartlessly throwing her out into the California desert half naked before hitching it up and driving away.  Clutching her acoustic guitar and weeping as the cad drives away, in the stark beauty of the pre dawn desert landscape, Dilana’s character hits rock bottom.  This beautifully shot and poignant scene was used as a teaser to secure full financing for the film.

Angel Camouflaged won multiple awards at the 2010 Action On Film Festival including: Best Actress Dilana Robichaux, Best Sound Track by Dilana Robichaux, Best Cinematography Michael Givens, and Best supporting Actor James Brolin.  It was also an official selection at the 2010 Cannes Independent Film Festival.

Angel Camouflaged will be released this spring, preceded by a release of the sound track CD with seven original songs by Robichaux and featuring cleaver cross-cultural covers of Lynnard Skynard’s “Give me three steps” by Curtis Blow and xRun DMC’s “It’s tricky “ by the Marshal Tucker Band.
