Hollywood, CA (Hollywood Today) July 30, 2010 — The Emmy nominations are out and both HBO’s miniseries “The Pacific” and Fox’s hit show “Glee” are top-runners, earning 24 and 19 nominations respectively.  “Lost” earned 12 noms in its final season; the most the show has amassed since 2005.

SNL’s Jimmy Fallon will host the awards, airing August 29th on CBS.  Heartthrob – and OK OK – actor-director-producer George Clooney, renowned for his humanitarian efforts, will be the fourth person ever to receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

“Glee” was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series but its popular cast members were also recognized.  Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Jane Lynch were nominated for acting awards.  Kristin Chenoweth and Mike O’Mally received recognition for their guest-starring roles.

Also making a splash is ABC’s “Modern Family,” which earned a nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, along with acting nominations for five members of the ensemble cast (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burell, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara).

Not surprising were the returns of old favorites to the Emmys list – previous winners “Mad Men” and “30 Rock” are both nominated again, along with members of their casts including Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Jane Krakowski.

Shows that had their final seasons this year also resonated in the acting categories – Tony Shalhoub got the last Emmy nomination he’ll receive for “Monk,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus was honored for the now-canceled “New Adventures of Old Christine” and multiple actors from “Lost” – Michael Emerson, Terry O’Quinn, Matthew Fox and Elizabeth Mitchell – were recognized for the show’s sixth and final season.

Snubbed Nestor Carbonell from Lost. Lame. Lame. Lame. His origin episode was the best performance on TV in years.
