HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/27/2010 – “It’s about what’s possible,” says NBC Breakthrough star Tony Robbins. “I’m make you do things you don’t want to do, face what you don’t want face. Your life will never be the same.”
Breakthrough with Tony Robbins is an inspirational, hour-long series starring Robbins and a team of experts who help participants and their families overcome complex challenges and personal obstacles, and turn their lives around. The show focuses on families that have been overcome by debt and personal setbacks. Robbins mission, to give them new lives in 30 days.
“Most people are feeling so overwhelmed today with things they can’t control,” says Robbins. “We thought, let’s make a show where we take people under extreme stress and show their entire life can be changed in just thirty days. A breakthrough is when what seemed impossible seems possible. It’s a trigger. Something becomes this catalyst that you take control of your life. You take action and really change your life. How do we make that exciting enough that they’ll give you 8pm on prime time television on NBC? You take people who have extreme problems.”
Robbins says Breakthrough was created in order to reach more people. Robbins’ live seminars reach four million people. He says he can reach two to four million people in one week on prime time television.
Breakthrough With Tony Robbins is a production of Reveille. Robbins, Howard T. Owens (The Biggest Loser), Mark Koops (The Biggest Loser), Shauna Minoprio (Undercover Boss) and Tom Forman (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) are the executive producers.

In the season premiere, Robbins meets newlyweds Frank and Kristen. Surrounded by friends and family on a beautiful beach in Mexico one year ago, Frank and Kristen pledged to love each other in sickness and in health. A year later, Frank is confined to a wheelchair, reluctant to leave his house while Kristen is his full-time caregiver. Tony’s mission is to show Frank that he still is capable of fending for himself and also to encourage Kristen to do something impossibly scary to help them realize that anything is possible.

Robbins meets Ron and Marie, a husband and wife couple from New York. Over the course of Ron’s 23-year-career, he worked his way up the corporate ladder only to be laid off in 2008. As they both fight to hold onto their home and support their children, their marriage hangs in the balance. Robbins guides them through a series of tough challenges, including sending them to spend the week at downtown LA’s Midnight Mission.
