SAN DIEGO, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/25/10 – “The Avengers,” the famous comic books series which brings various Marvel superheroes together, will be turned into a film due to release in 2012.

At Comic-Con on Saturday, 6,000 fans were surprised to see Samuel L. Jackson, who stepped out and started introducing the all-star cast of the film.

Jackson, who will play Nick Fury, announced fellow cast mates, which include—Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Chris Evans (Captain America).

Jackson then brought out another surprise guest—Robert Downey Jr. (to play Iron Man)—who then brought out the rest of the cast. They include Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Downy asked the crowd, “Did anybody see Inception?,” referring to Chris Nolan’s mind-boggler.

“I thought that was the most ambitious project I’d ever seen. Then I thought, ‘Wait a (expletive) minute.’ They’re going to combine the biggest heroes of the Marvel universe? That’s the most ambitious project I’ve ever seen.”

The thought even made Avengers director Joss Whedon admit, “I’m nervous I’m going to blow it…I need your love,” he told USA Today.

Every since the teaser at the end of the credits in Iron Man 1, we have been anxiously awaiting more information on The Avengers movie. I can wait until 2012 if the time assures they do a real good job with effects in this movie.
