Less We Forget

Happy Memorial Day and Salute to the Veterans.

Today millions of Americans gather with family and friends to celebrate Memorial day (AKA the unofficial start to summer).  For many however the history of memorial day is only vaguely understood.

Memorial Day was founded as decoration day by union veterans just three years after the end of the Civil War. Ever since its inception 142 years ago, it has been a time honored tradition to lay flowers and flags beside military graves honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

In the uncertain and dangerous world we currently live in, our soldiers are fighting for that feeling of safety and security that we enjoy in our daily lives. Take not their sacrifice for granted and take some time to understand the brotherhood that has united our service men and woman in wars past and present.

So whether your celebrating at a family cookout or poolside, take time to reflect on the heroic sacrifices of our veterans to preserve the very freedoms we enjoy as Americans this Memorial Day.
