HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 5/22/10 – Norwegian designer trio Peder Borresen, Simen Staalnacke and Stefan Dahlkvist of Moods Of Norway, celebrated one year in Beverly Hills this week.
For them it’s two parties in one, because the Norwegian National Day (May 17th) was the day they opened up the doors last year.
“Norwegian National day is the biggest family day in Norway, that’s the day you are off work, stay with the family and drink a couple of beers” says Borresen. Moods Of Norway, wellknown for its plaid suites and tractor pattern underwear, is still the only Norwegian clothing store on Robertson Boulevard . The trio arrived to the stores’ anniversary party driving their new blue tractor, and is still commandeering golden tractors around the world:
“-It has been a fantastic first year for us here in US, even if we have to travel back and fourth in Europe to take care of business”
“After one year success here in US we bought a ski-center in Norway, Stryn, home of salmon fishing and glaciers. “After being a Norwegian success here in Hollywood , you need a ski-center on your own” says Stefan Dahlkvist with a laugh.
“There is also a new Moods Of Norway dancing shoes on the way, super funky with a receipt inside the shoe how to dance Norwegian folkdance”
“It can be handy at the dance floors in Las Vegas, where we go often”
Lots of patterns and solid colors is one of their trademarks, even though their fall line tends to be darker than usual.
“The Flying Culinary Circus” was both filming and catering the one year anniversary, and serving Norwegian meatballs, smoked salmon, roast biff and cocktails by Serve Mobile. The champagne was sponsored by Nicolas Feuillatte.
A possibility to taste Norwegian homemade waffles was offered at the stores’ back patio smoking area. Smokestik.com representative Justin Neill promoted cigarettes without nicotine and free of carbon monoxide to health conscious guests:
-“ What you actually are smoking is a mist of vapor. This vapor is created as a tiny amount of liquid, which is vaporized by the cartomizer”
-“ A Smokestik cigarette is free of ashes, and it’s safe because it’s free of fire. The smoker is still getting the sense of smoking a real cigarette”
Moods of Norway is already a established company of contemporary unisex wear in Norway, Sweden, Benelux, Switzerland , Spain and Japan. Their famous blue tractor is featured as a logo on every garment, and their headquarters and showroom remains in Norwegian town Stryn.
“Yes-there is plans for a New York for next year” admits Simen Staalnacke.
Celebrity wearing their clothes have been many over the years, including Gwen Stefani, Adrian Young, The All American Rejects, Muse and ZZTop.
