Palm Desert,CA(Hollywood Today)3/25/2010—In today’s virtual world many people are discovering their individuality. Social Networks such as Facebook and Myspace allow users to create their own personal profiles viewable to millions of people solely for the purpose of identifying themselves. For some, projecting their identity isn’t enough. For these people who have specific talents such as the many independent musicians around the world projecting their music is the best way to describe themselves and get recognized.
With the success of Myspace and Facebook, online networks specifically designed for individuals to display their work for others to see have risen in the past 5 years. Vimeo is one example where filmmakers can share videos with an artistic crowd similar to them but there has yet to be an effective internet site for Independent music artist to showcase their work.
For awhile, Myspace Music has been the most popular conduit for aspiring unsigned artist to market their music to the public. But even with moderate success, its inefficient due to how difficult and meticulous it can be to find an artists music without knowing their name or the title of the song.
Immitter, one of the 65 companies at this years DEMO Spring in Palm Desert California will be a social network for music artist around the world to showcase their work with other musicians. Chief Executive for Immitter Jermaine Kelly describes the company’s purpose saying, “Our goal is to allow the average musician to have access to maximum distribution, comparable to the distribution of a major artist.”
The cite will feature easier more creative ways for artists to become noticed. With Immitter, aspiring musicians will be able to specify certain keywords related to their songs along with their genre, location and even the beats per minute making their work easier to find. When performing a search, Immitter will use these specifications to deliver a concentrated range of songs that meet the search requirements.
Social music network Immitter will provide a simplified way for independent musicians to display their work on an international level as well as allow them to market their music to the masses online. Chief executive Jermaine Kelly recently said “We’ve already begun brainstorming ways to help musicians get paid on the go.” Good news for any rising musicians.

We are the New England Music Festival Association, an organization for an annual high school music festival, this year taking place in Burlington Vermont. We would like to use the image “travaling musicians” on the cover of our program as it depicts Vermont-like qualities ie classic skiing and mountains in the distance. Can you direct us to the artist of this image as we would like to ask permission to use this image. thank you
