Justin Bieber, a pop singer originally discovered on YouTube, avoided arrest Friday by canceling his appearance at an out-of-control record signing on Long Island
Record executive arrested for allegedly failing to control crowd

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Hollywood Today) 11/23/09 – Fans of pubescent pop star Justin Bieber were faced with injury instead of autographs Friday, when several record-signing attendees began pushing and shoving one another at Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island.
The Associated Press reported five injuries among the crowd of approximately 3,000. According to The New York Times, Nassau County police ordered the event canceled and arrested record executive James Roppo for allegedly failing to cooperate with crowd-control efforts.
Bieber, 15, told fans via Twitter that police had told him to stay away from the chaotic gathering under threat of arrest. He was appearing at the mall to promote his debut album, “My World,” released earlier in the week by Island Records.

One might ask, to what extent the police were at fault. I mean, why didnt they simply announce themelves, ‘ok – everybody go home.’ Why did they beat up some of the girls (as some of the young girls with injury reported).
