HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/26/2009 – “I used to be a seat filler ten years ago,” says ALMA Awards host Eva Langoria Parker. “I just wanted to go to the ALMAs.” Alma Awards host George Lopez says, “The ALMAs are important because they inspire young talent.” Ugly Betty star America Ferrera, who won the 2007 ALMA Award for Outstanding Actress, says, “As a young girl watching Latinos accept these awards, I decided it was a possibility for me, too.”
The Eleventh annual ALMA Awards were hosted by Eva Longoria Parker and George Lopez at Royce Hall on the UCLA Campus on September 18th. There were live performances by David Archuleta, Nelly Furtado, Sean Kingston, Pitbull and Shakira. Presenters included Benjamin Bratt, Dania Ramirez, Adam Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez.

What a truly stunning, beautiful performance by David Archuleta, he is absolutely amazing and we are so incredibly proud of him! He so deserves this ALMA award & all the great things happening in his life! For those of you who may be new to David’s music, you’ll love checking out his incredible music on itunes! His first CD self titled “David Archuleta” is also still available in stores & it is fantastic! Also his new Christmas CD “Christmas from the Heart” will be released on Oct. 13, but is available to preorder online now through Amazon and Walmart!

congrats and a bravo! to david archuleta – for his honor and recognition as ”male rising star”, and for his absolutely stunning performance of ‘contigo en la distancia” on the broadcast. this performance has been generating raves every since the 9/18 show, and it has opened the eyes of millions of people to david’s astounding vocal brilliance. many regards to him for a long, very, very successful career in the music industry, and for us fans to witness many outstanding performances by him, like this, in the days and years ahead.

I turned on the show when I found out David Archuleta would be receiving (a much deserved) award and would be performing. David’s performance was AMAZING! I am a huge fan of David’s and just think he is just an amazing singer/songwriter! I just love his pop/soulful sound.

What a class act show! As a latina myself I truly enjoyed learning many of the latino contributions to the arts. I too have to give an extra shout out to the stellar performance of the talented and gorgeous young man, David Archuleta! He radiated so much pride in his latino roots. He will be an international star!
