Just click three times like Dorothy and you are there to see 20 designer’s interpretations of most famous pair of shoes ever

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 6/11/09 – We’re still not in Kansas anymore, just Hollywood as a big party marked the 70 years since Judy Garland starred as Dorothy in the classical movie “Wizard Of Oz.
The film (two Oscars) opened up at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood on August 15th in 1939 and was produced by Victor Fleming.
He also directed “Gone With the Wind” (eight Oscars) the same year, which you movie buffs just may have heard of as well.
Wizard received an overall five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Song (“Over the Rainbow”), Original Score and a special award for the outstanding juvenile performance by Judy Garland.
Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and Warner Brothers have now put together a special pre-presentation called “The Ruby Slipper Collection” to launch the Blue-ray and DVD Collector Edition release September 29th.
The FIDM museum on 919 South Grand Avenue is showing the “Ruby Slipper Collection” exhibition is running shorter than usual. It will be showing until June 21st 2009. The 20 pairs of shoes made from former FIDM Student designers are on display.
Each designer interpreter the shoes of Dorothy (Judy Garland) could have worn if the movie was made 2009. Today these designers are well recognized names in the fashion world as Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenburg, Lisa Pliner, Alberta Ferretti,Betsy Johnson,Manolo Blahnik,Christian Louboutin, Tuleh,Botkier,Testoni, Abaete, Zanotti, L.A.M.B., Jimmy Choo, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Tibiand Stuart Weitzman.
Each pair shoes are hanging individually in their own glass bubbel together with artwork on the wall from inspirations of “Oz Fine Art”and “My Pretty Collection” by Tarina Tarantino.
Among the artists you can see are Todd White with ‘Bar Tales” and Johnny Johns with “Il Magio di Oz”.
Todd is best known to create artwork for the Grammy Academy.
Project Runway’s Nick Verreos was directing and presenting 3rd year FIDM students to the fashion challenge opening day.The task was to create new costumes to the main characters of “Wizard Of Oz”: Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man.
All these costumes are featured in the main entrance and to be admired.
