Controversy swirls around the presumed surrogate while Sex and the City 2 goes full-steam ahead

NEW YORK (Hollywood Today) 5/17/09 — Sarah Jessica Parker, 44, and Matthew Broderick, 47, are expecting twin daughters this summer by a surrogate mother. The two actors have been married for 12 years and have one son, 6-year-old James Wilkie Broderick.
Representatives for the couple confirmed the news last week, saying:
“Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed.”
“They had a lot of unsuccessful tries” to conceive another child. “They came to the conclusion that this was going to be the best alternative for expanding their family,” a friend of the Parker-Broderick brood told Entertainment Weekly, ”
But controversy swirls around a recent tabloid outing and the reputed surrogate’s MySpace blog. Star Magazine printed that the surrogate is 26-year-old Ohio resident Michelle Ross, who penned on her social media blog, “I have had pink hair and tattoos and spiked collars. My favorite shoes are five-inch black spike heels, which lace up the front. I love metal and rock down to the bones.”
Ex-husband Joseph Erker, who Ross shares a four-year-old son with, says she has the symbol of bisexuality tattooed on her wrist. And while he insists that Ross’ intentions to help families have children are genuine, he criticizes Ross for neglecting her own duties as a mother.
Erker told the magazine, “She said she wanted to become a surrogate to help people who couldn’t have children of their own…Michelle has kids for other people, but she hardly ever sees her own son.”
He also said that Michelle “discovered a dark side in herself” after losing their first baby, and that is what inspired her to lend herself to others.
Mother-to-be Ross has yet to confirm if she is the surrogate for Sarah Jessica and Matthew.
On the daddy front, Broderick appeared on The Late Show last Friday night and revealed to David Letterman, “I’m ready… (but) I’m nervous just even thinking about it. I’ve asked people, ‘What’s it like to have twins?’ One father said, ‘I don’t recommend it,’ but the rest have been very positive.”
He also admitted that their son James Wilkie is “pretty excited” and hoping to shop for his unborn baby sisters’ toys. “He said, ‘we have to get a lot of princess toys.’”
Concerned she won’t be able to juggle her busy acting career with encore motherhood, Parker, who also has a perfume line and Bitten, a line of affordable knits, was calmed by “Sex and the City” actor Mario Cantone. He said of her son, “That kid James Wilkie is so cute and so brilliant and so smart and he’s got such a wit about him. I only spent a little time with him but I fell in love with the kid. I just think he’s something else. He’s like a smart, witty, appropriate child and that’s rare.”
He adds, “She wanted girls I’m sure and I think it’s good. And I also think if you’re going to have one child, you should have another. The only child thing is a tough thing.”
Long-time friend and “Sex and the City” co-star, Kristin Davis also shares support of Parker’s forthcoming twin girls. “We’re very excited about the news of the twin girls. I [will] get to hold one, when Sarah is holding the other.”
With the SATC sequel full-steam ahead, Parker, Davis, Cattrall and Nixon will revisit the old New York ‘hood alongside the reprisal of other favorite characters including Chris Noth as the notorious Mr. Big, Mario Cantone as Charlotte’s gay best friend, Evan Handler as Harry, Charlotte’s divorce lawyer-come-husband and David Eigenberg who returns as Miranda’s lovable spouse.
Davis revealed that “Sex and the City 2″ is “Very exciting and very different than the first one, which is the luxury of getting to do another one,” she said. “We did the first one, and those were our pent-up things that we hadn’t finished in the show, so now we’re just starting fresh in a way, which is really, really exciting. It’s just a new adventure.”
Unlike Parker and Broderick who are expanding their brood in real life, the 44-year-old actress, told People she wishes her character will have “more dogs –but not more kids.”
Kristin also talked marriage recently, saying, “I’m not that marriage minded…I’ve gotten married so many times on camera and all my onscreen husbands are wonderful.”
