HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 5/10/09 — People have been known to try the most crazy and outlandish things to feed their addictions. Tapping into that desperation, a non-profit production company called Primary Purpose is premiering it’s first film: BED RIDDEN. Primary Purpose formed with the mission of helping addicts and alcoholics find the road to recovery and joined forces with top level talent to complete BED RIDDEN, their first comedic drama. Donating their performances to this amazing cause, BED RIDDEN’S all-star cast includes Dodgeball’s Joel David Moore, Jessica Cauffiel (Legally Blonde), Alan Tudyk (Knocked Up), Skyler Stone (Comedy Central), and original Saturday Night Live player Garrett Morris. The film also showcases the Oscar-nominated directing talents of Jonathan Heap and writing of New York Times best-selling author Lowell Cauffiel. BED RIDDEN premiere’s on April 25th, at The Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills, at 3 p.m. The premiere will include special guests, Comedy, Q&A and a reception to follow.
BED RIDDEN chronicles the last score of a young addict and alcoholic named “Jay,” who decides he can still navigate the streets of Los Angeles despite the fact a loved one has handcuffed him to his bed in an effort to stop him from using drugs. The film’s directing, writing, and acting successfully probe both the comedic and poignant sides of an addict’s obsession and its impact on the people he knows and loves. Ultimately, BED RIDDEN points to the path of recovery from a disease that affects four in ten American families, according to the National Institutes of Health.
All proceeds from the film’s red carpet premiere and distribution will go to the Clare Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides compassionate treatment and recovery services for alcoholism and substance abuse to individuals, family, and the community on the west sideof Los Angeles.
Each year over 25,000 people turn to Clare for help. Over 2,600 are admitted to one of Clare’s eleven comprehensive programs. All others are counseled and/or referred to partner agencies. Of those people admitted to Clare, 90% successfully complete their program, meaning they left Clare sober, with safe housing and steady employment.
