Los Angeles becomes a Popular Fashion Capital?-The buyers and movie stars are here

HOLLYWOOD CA (Hollywood Today) 4/15/09 — “The shows won’t stop” as long we have the buyers,”says fashion sales representative from Chanel.
Fashion Week Los Angeles is officially over – but after a few days of relax, designers as Maggie Barry,Julia Clancey,Crispin & Basilio and Chanel accessories are still presenting their Fall 2009 collections in different locations.
Both Chanel and Crispin & Basilio choose their stores on Rodeo Drive and Melrose as best location.
Crispin & Basilio continues to show an in between dressed up and relaxed young line for next season.There is lots of pullover cocktail dresses in silk jersey and chiffon and mohair-like inspired miniskirts.
Underwear designer Andrew Christian did a second show of installations to benefit Menta -an evening of Asian artistry of art, film and media network of the them of Opium Den.
British born Julia Clancey and her Fall 2009 “All That Glitters” Couture preview went together with “Covenant House California”-a charity to help homeless teenagers up to 21 years old.The fashionshow took place at a private mansion at Carolwood in Beverly Hills.
The Covenant House California has helped teens since 1988 and they have homeless shelters in Oakland and Hollywood.
The purpose of this charity is to resolve each youth’s crisis situation and provide them with medical and psychological services and a more clean and safe environment.
A total of 150.000 meals and 55.000 nights of care was served last year free of charge.Most of these teens come from foster homes.
Julia Clancey debuted her first collection at London fashion week five years ago and has in the past worked as a fashion editor in music and advertising.
Her fall 2009 collection “All That Glitters” says itself what this line is about.
Julia just can’t resist anything that sparkels. Her gowns and cocktail dresses have gold and silver sequin trims and Swarovsky studded mini shifts.
The gowns are both long voluminous and short in sateen, silk and chiffon.
She is especially known for her vintage beading and jewel clusters that gives you an extra touch of romance in old-fashioned French style.
The Hypo Twins live band with their new CD “It’s Showtime” accompagnated the models down the catwalk.
Maggie Barry has put on an fun and costumelike line for next season,almost like rock opera. “Rock Siren” is name of her Fall 2009 collection and it features both eye-catching frou-frou ballerina dresses, sparkeling sequin suits and long fringed tunics.
Maggie showed it at Club Ivar in Hollywood infront a full house and the same crowd as Mercedes Benz fashion week.
“Alexandra and the Band” performed classic and new rock tones to fit the mood of Maggie Barry’s latest creations.
The most classical cut in her line is her black cashmere tunics with pearl encrusted details.
Italian designer Valentino Garavani didn’t do a fashion show this season in Los Angeles,but he was still in the limelight for receiving a Life Time Archivement Award from Rodeo Drive Walk of Style.At the same time he presented a new book “Valentino-A Grand Italian Epic” and documentary movie “Valentino -The Last Emperor” The booksigning took plave at the Tischen bookstore on Beverly Drive and only 50 copies was signed by the master himself.
The book is a follow up of the Collectors & Art edition earlier released.
His film premiered at LACMA museum and features the close relationship with his business partner of 50 years, Giancarlo Giametti and the two final years in his career.

I guess because Hollywood is the home of the movie industry and stars that’s why L.A. now is becoming a popular fashion capital.

The work done on the fabric is amazing. Its a masterpiece of its kind but I wouldnt wear it myself
