LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Today) 4/1/09 – Actor Andy Hallett, who portrayed one of the most recognizable characters in the Joss Whedon fantasy universe, died of heart disease Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Hallett, 33, was known to fans of supernatural drama “Angel” as Lorne, a green-skinned lounge lizard who could look into his patron’s souls through the magic of karaoke.

The show, starring “Bones” lead David Boreanaz as a benevolent vampire, was a spinoff of creator Whedon’s earlier work, TV’s “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the title character.

Hallett’s agent told the Associated Press the actor was diagnosed with congestive heart disease in 2004 and spent the past five years receiving regular treatment. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Lori.
