Verdad concludes Fashion Week LA Part 1

Li Cari, Dillon, Sjobeck, Solomon also make a point

HOLLYWOOD CA (Hollywood Today) 3/19/09 — Fashion Week Los Angeles was not only Boxeight at sixtwentyfive South Broadway this season.
No one could imagine the three day show was run by volunteer from models to hair& make-up. “They did an amazing job” and it was a surprise that they all relied on sponsor like Coca-Cola and other donations from individual shows who had indie sponsors.
Before the show rapped up at the final hour founder Peter Gurnz announced, for next season there will be a Boxeight make-up line out on the market.
A future competitor for Davis Factor, who ran Fashion Week at his Culver City Smashbox location for years? Who knows?
For the first time COLA Fashionweek is here with a two day (20th-21st of March) fashionshow presentation located at The Lady Liberty Building downtown one block from California Market Center.
They will have a line-up of leading designers as B.Son, Fremont, COA, Eksempel, Joyrich and Brian Lichtenberg
A third organization called Downtownlafashionweek have in association with Los Angeles magazine and Decades is presenting a special hosted closing event that turned into an opening event put on by Cameron Silver and Rachel Griffiths at the MOCA Geffen Contemporary ,March 19th.
It is a benefit to celebrate the Louver collection by Louis Verdad combined with a photo exhibition by August Bradley.
The theme is “An evening of 20th Century Glamour” and a video installation by film director Robert Fonseca will be shown, part of the Verdad inspired fashion installation.

WNWN magazine is the sponsor of California Market Center remaining shows at California Market Center until 23rd of March.
Their biggest show will be a combined show by Samora, Postage and RAW 7 presented by GalleryLA at Cooper Design building.

Jazmin Whitley the designer of Li Cari was unveiling her Fall 2009 collections as the finale
show for Boxeight fashionweek.
She says: “My vision for this collection has a very classic and comforting feel,These are pieces that
will bring you a feeling of soothing and comfort”
Her line has a timeless and classic look with its sense of basic and nature.
The material is of her garments remain silk,lace and wool.

Maxine Dillon-a former graduate from FIDM,also presenting her collection at the closing night
says:
My Fall 2009 line is heavily inspired by the Brian Eno-David Byrne album “My Life in the Bush Of Ghosts”".It is the contast of Eno’s electronic synth sounds and Byrnes’ drumbeats that caught my attention” she says.
The fabric selections comes from Japan,India and Korea and you see it army dresses and jackets in khaki linen and cotton sateen.

Sjobeck made their debut line last year after a few years of absence on the fashion scene.
All garments are designed in Malibu style and unisex. The line is a relaxed clothingline of
basic knits, denim and cotton wear.
This year the designer team Shelley Sjobeck and Lana Lupton joined the Boxeight team,and
the collection they showed at Boxeight closing night was strongly influenced by Indian and Cowboys backgroup. Every garment carried one or two accessories from that time-era, in form of belt,shoes,bags or hairbands.

Yotam Solomon Fall 2009 is simply called “The Ocean Collection”-the name says itself that the garment have silhuettes modeled from waves, reefs and sea creatures. .
Solomon works on primary cotton and silk and all natural fibers and
the colors are inspired by corals and a variety of marine in fitted cocktail dresses and
sleeveless blouses with elongated collar.
This year is his fouth season, and he also presenting a ready-to-wear and footwear collection showing on the models down the catwalk.


“My collection are inspired by European and Eastern roots this season” he says.
Solomon collection drew inspiration from the natural environment and especially the magic worls that lies underneath the ocean.
