HOLLYOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 2/21/09 — The relationship between whisky and writers is legendary. From Hemingway to the denizens of the Algonquin Round Table to modern day Hollywood, a writer always seems to have the ubiquitous glass of amber liquid by his or her side while typing away on their Remington.
On Tuesday evening, the Pate brothers hosted an evening of Glenrothes at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. Glenrothes, a single malt whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland is as good as it gets. It is a whisky made for sipping, not swilling with essences of fruits, citrus, vanilla and a touch of spices.
Amid the elegance of the Viceroy, guests tasted various expressions of Glenrothes and sipped on signature “Blood and Sand” cocktails, while a menu of hors d’ouevres created specifically to complement the flavors in the whisky were passed throughout the room.
Although the room was filled with writers, actors and producers, the conversation was less Hollywood and more politics, history and whisky, with the Scotch connoisseurs in the room educating the crowd on the history of Scotland and whisky.
It seems that Glenrothes is the new trend in sipping excellence and the drink of choice for the Hollywood elite.
