Some of the more unexpected items in the Grammys gift bags
By Gabrielle Pantera
HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 2/8/2009 – When imaging the Grammys gift bag, think of the “wife sack” that Sasha Cohen threw over Pamela Anderson in Borat. It’s big. In a separate feature we peeked into the 51st Grammy Awards gift bags to find the latest fashion and beauty care accessories. Let’s now take a look at some gifts you might not expect: Xbox 360 Rock Band 2, Gunnar computer glasses, Gibson guitars, Suehiro Sake, Universal Botanicals, H20 water and Waste Management recycling. And, Christopher Michael Chocolates were provided to all the Grammy performers to nibble on before the show.
The Microsoft Xbox 360 features Harmonix Rock Band 2. Pick your instrument, guitar, bass, or drums, and with the microphone you can be lead singer. If you’ve never played an instrument you’ll be surprised how easy this makes it seem. It’s karaoke for instruments. On a
TV screen a “road” of notes flows toward you that you “shoot” by hitting the right note on the instrument. You can have up to four friends join you to play in the band. New songs are added daily. Xbox 360 also offers the singing party game Lips.

Gunnar Optiks computer shades
Gunnar Optiks presents shades for watching your computer screen. Although not as bright as the sun, looking into the bright screen of a monitor can be tiring. The lenses are designed to help eye muscle relax and prevent dry tired eyes. The frames are fashion forward and can accommodate your prescription in the lenses.
Gibson guitars presents an electric guitar autographed for charity by Taylor Swift and other stars. The money will go to help children effected by Katrina get instruments and get back into music. Gibson’s self-tuning guitar allows you to change key on the fly. A digital read-out on the knob says the key. Micro-motors adjust the strings automatically.
Suehiro Sake presented Daiginjo sake, a sake with a delicate taste brewed in limited quantities. It has the aroma of ripe fruit. Daiginjo Ken has the aroma of melons, pears and peaches. It’s crisp and elegant. Poochi Poochi is a light smooth sake with fine bubbles, like champagne. It’s a low alcohol, low malt, Japanese sake. Available only at fine Japanese restaurants. Not available for sale in the United States, yet.
Universal Botanicals Green cleaners are chemical free and non-toxic Safe for use around people who have allergies and asthma or weak immune systems. These cleaners are so safe they require no warning label. Great for use around children. If they swallow it, you don’t need to phone poison control. However, no claims on flavor. The bottle is biodegradable, too.
H20 is spring water in a crushable recyclable renewable cardboard container. The aseptic packaging won a Presidential Award for Sustainability. Made mostly of paper, it contains an inner layer of aluminum foil. The paper is from new growth forests.
Waste Management presents florescent bulb and battery recycling kits. It’s a box to ship your mercury-vapor bulbs. Another box is designed to safely return household batteries for recycling. The kits range in price and include a certificate in appreciation for recycling.
This is the tenth year that the marketing company Distinctive Assets has managed the Grammy Awards Gift Lounge.

I agree with you 99% but wonder if you have really looked at the whole picture. DOn’t mean to be critical just food for thought.

Awesome info! I was honestly just thinking about something similar to this the other day so, it was almost “weird” when I ran across this. You would be surprised how many people simply have no idea when it comes to this kind of stuff. Anyway, thanks for getting this info out there and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates you taking the time to post this for the masses.
