Warner Bros. has chosen to recast Angelina Jolie's role in the next 'Tomb Raider' film
Studio will revamp beloved video-game character

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 1/29/09 – Warner Bros. has envisioned a whole new Lara Croft, and “Tomb Raider” purists may not be pleased. Not only has the studio decided not to invite Angelina Jolie back for the third entry in the film series, according to “The Hollywood Reporter,” but they’ve also decided to lose the character’s original backstory.
While Warner Bros. hasn’t specified what the changes to Croft’s character will be for the reboot, the announcement has ignited intense fan speculation that she will no longer be a British aristocrat and that she will be played by “Transformers” knockout Megan Fox.
Fox has not been officially confirmed as a candidate for the role of the swashbuckling tomb robber, but has been fuel for the rumor mill in months past, including a widespread hoax involving her purported casting in a “Wonder Woman” big-screen feature.
Warner Bros. is taking the “Tomb Raider” reins from Paramount Pictures, which developed the first two movies. According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” producer Dan Lin has signed on to the project.
The “Tomb Raider” movies have been based on the popular video game series begun in 1996 by Eidos Interactive. The latest sequel, “Tomb Raider: Underworld,” was released for the PC, Nintendo DS and all major consoles late last year.

well i love the tomb raider series and you will loose fan base if you dont keep same heroin. Angelina Jolie makes the movie.Wont be the same with Fox.Giver her own series of movies. Dont do what they did to the mummy 3 no Rachel Weisz the movie was awful.

As a fan of Tomb Raider, it saddens me to think that Angelina Jolie won’t star in the new sequel and to hear that the actual origin of Lara Croft’s background might change! It sounds like another dud Indiana Jones (Crystal Skull) movie in the making. I definitely won’t see it if Angelina is not in it. It wasn’t her fault that the last Tomb Raider movie’s script wasn’t as good as the first one.

In my opinion it’s Angelina Jolie or no film at all.. The new film will be a complete disaster if they get barbie doll (that’s how she looks on all of the pics on Google anyway) Megan Fox to take on the legendary roll.. No way.. I will be so annoyed if that happens!

Tomb Raider is such an iconic charcter and everyone knows Angelina Jolie for taking on this roll in such a perfect way! There’s no way that i would ever want to see the new film if Angelina Jolie isn’t in it.. What on earth are Warner Bros. thinking?! Total disaster in the making..!
