HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 12/2/08 -Jennifer Hudson’s family members have been finally vindicated as the work of William Balfour, who was finally charged for the October slayings on Monday by Chicago police who confirmed they will be charging him with three counts of first degree murder.
The Chicago Tribune reported that investigators had evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon. Balfour, age 27, was brought in for questioning but had not been charged. He was kept for a parole violation based on his girlfriend telling authorities Balfour was carrying a gun.
A police source Monday described the case against Balfour as being “circumstantial.” The Chicago Sun Times stated the gun is believed to have belonged to Jason Hudson. Hudson’s handgun was missing from their home for several months and authorities suspect Balfour stole it, sources said. The body of the slain 7 year old boy was found in the backseat of Jason Hudson’s stolen Chevrolet Suburban.
Associated Press states Balfour had refused to take a lie-detector test and stopped cooperating with detectives, according to a police official who was not authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
