Elvis’s family has welcomed two baby girls! The late King’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, gave birth to the twins by cesarean section on Tuesday. The bouncy babies weighed respectively 5 lbs. 15oz. and 5 lbs. 2oz. Her musician husband, Michael Lockwood, 47, was “by her side the whole time,” a friend of the family told Star magazine.
The fraternal twins are the couple’s first brood. Presley, 40, has two other children from a previous marriage to Danny Keough. After that union ended in 1994, she was briefly married to Michael Jackson and then had another short-lived marital tie to actor/producer Nicolas Cage.
The little ones’ grandfather—the King of Rock ’n’ Roll himself—had an identical twin who was delivered stillborn. His daughter went through a difficult pregnancy with the girls. In order to dissipate rumors about her shape, Presley and Lockwood felt compelled to admit they were expecting in March, making it official a lot earlier than they had desired to.
Nonetheless, the babies both came into the world without a hitch. Elvis fans will be watching, hoping the twin sisters express more Big El genes!
