Fashion Week and Gen Art kick off

HOLLYWOOD CA OCTOBER 10/12/08 Genart and SOYROY nutrient snack kicked off Los Angeles fashionweek October ninth at the Peterson Museum with four health and ecofriendly designers:
Velvet Leaf with “A Geometric Revolution”,
Brigid Catiis with “Brigid Catiis Lolita-The Fresh,The Chic,The Bold”,
Popomomo with”Searching for Aesthetic utopias” and
The Battalion with “Harmony-A Duet Of Flamenco & New Wave”
The evenings host was Maggie Gyllenhaal best known for her roles in “The Dark Knight”,”Stranger than Fiction” and “World Trade Center”
These four upcoming designers are showing the collections that will be out in stores before spring
2009-usually after the Christmas Holidays.
Eco fashion has become one of the biggest trends of new enviromentally conscious clothes for both sexes since last year’s boom at the fashion market and runways. The motto is reduse,reuse and recycle.

The company Velvet Leaf is specialized in 100% ECO SKAL organic cotton, fair trade hand woven silk and sustainable fabrics made from beech Tree Fiber.
Its fifteen piece collection contain pieces like Juliette dress in pink silk with colored geometric shapes,June dress in white silk with black organic cotton piping and Maxine jeans
in charcoal organic denim with back-buttoned tee in white modal silk jersey.

Raissa Gerona,designer of Brigid Catiis admits:
-I make sure to eat all natural and preservative free food especially when eating sweeteners”
Her collection features floral denim and tube mini dresses,V front and back bell sleeve tunics with removable sash and halter- vest mini dresses.
This is a fresh young collection for whom like the skirt well above the knee.

Lizz designer for Popomomo is a big supporter of helping the environment by riding the bike as much as possible instead of the taking the car to work and appoinments.
In her collection the garments are mostly made from Soy jersey,natural hemp- tencel and organic cotton.Popomomo line is all about organic cotton tees,plaid skirts and navy soy jersey dresses.
The textil tencel is originally made from the cellulosa found in the wool pulp.

-”We shop at the farmers market and recycle CD’s and DVD’s says designer team Linda & Chrys Wong from Battalion.
-”Our collection is inspired by Spain and the flamenco dancers this season and the basic colors are black,red and grey”,Linda and Chrys explain.
The collection features everything from bamboo organic cotton fleece motorcycle jackets to
bamboo jersey flamenco ruffle evening dresses.

Gen Art’s second night,October tenth “Fresh Faces In Fashion” has become one of the biggest ticketsale
for supporters of upcoming designers in the fashionindustri.
The 11th annual “Fresh Faces in Fashion” was a soldout house and featured sixth female collections and two male.
The designers were Nanushka,Quail,Wayne Hadley,Peonie,Wayf,KZO,Laeken and Maxine Dillon.
An assessories reception and presentation one hour before the fashionshow featured jewerly by Azature and Laura Kranitz and shoes by Jerome Rousseau and Posso.

On display in the ballroom was also the winning design model of “Tone skincare Fashion Vision Award” 2008
in New York City honored last September.
The prize went to emerging designer Jolibe for her innovative designs elegantly interpreted the “Tone skincare theme of “radiance at the styles show.
The evening was sponsored by Blackberry and T Mobile and hosted by singer and actress Mandy Moore.
Mandy has launched a line of contemporary young clothing last season in her own name.

Acura TL cars promoted Acura Advance Experience and had Acura staff explain their new weathersystem.Their new slogan is”Prediction of forecast is power”

Clothingline Nanushka was established in the beginnibg of 2005 by Hungarian designer Sandra Sandor with women’s active lifestyle in mind.
She lives now in Los Angeles and her line focus on long lasting classic silhouettes in dresses in combination with comfort and function ability.

The concept behind Quail is the direct result of founder and designer Michelle Williams’
desire to create beautiful clothes for the fashion forward girl at affordable prizes.
She has always found inspiration for her line from the grunge era to oldfashion images
of pinup girls from the 40’s and 50’s.
The term “Quail” used to be a hipster slangword in the 60’s to describe a woman or girl.

Peonie is actually a swimwear line that focus on the sophistication and style together with unique laces,distinctive embellishment and refined assessories.
Designer Lila Caren spend most of her life enjoying the beaches of Southern Brazil and she says:
“My mission is to create bathingsuits with beautiful designs for the woman who wants to feel sexy and confident and the same time comfortable at the beach”

Laeken design house offers cool and casual with sexy silhuettes inspired by Tokyo street style and Australian sportwear.
Their spring 2009 line presents a melange of saccharine color with sport-inspired contours,mixing tie dye silks,Japanese cotton mesh and bright plaid colors like pink,ice blue,lime,teal and grey palettes.

Maxine Dillon is inspired by independent women who use their personal style as a means to communicate their thoughts and interest.
Her collections are showing feminine fabrics and modern silhouettes with contrasting masculine edge.
For spring 2009 the Maxine Dillon Collection will only be available under the name of Revolveclothing.

Wayf’s designer Meredith Fisher continues to design a collection that is fresh and fashion forward since its launch three years ago.
The name Wayf almost explain the look it self.
This line have plenty of sophisticated sublime dresses of pure silk that float around when you move.Her garments has interesting details with assymmetrical straps over the shoulders. The skirtlenght stays above the knee.

Wayne Joffe founded Wayne Hadly in late 2006 and is best known for his attention to details ans sharp vest silhouettes and each garment made to order is expertly hand finished.
His mensline is known for its global style and contrast of tuxedo jackets,double breasted outwear,motorcyclejackets and oxford style tweed pants.

K.Z.O. is male clothingline designed and creative directed in Southern California by Joel K.
He is clearly influenced my its Japanese counterpartsin Tokyo and Osaka.
It is a menswear collection designed with a cinematic mindset on art,travel,film,soundtrack and multimedia.
K.Z.O. is a mixure of casual streetwear like hoodies to sophisticated pieces of leather jackets.

Sjobeck denim is actually a Swedish denim company that was launched by “Swedish Sjobeck” himself in 1983.
The company made their first debut of a Spring 2009 Garage denim line at Victorian restaurantin Santa Monica before the shows move to Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

In Sweden Sjobeck is spelled with two dots over the o and is pronounced oe.
Due to illness of the founder the company stopped manufacture until 3 years ago when it got relaunched in Malibu by new owners.
Sjobeck is not only denim ,it is also a line that feature cotton dresses,T-shirts,shorts and hoodies -all very cool and casual.
