L.A. DA will not charge Transformers star for DUI

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/27/08 – - “We are not filing charges,” said the spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, Jane Robison. Shia LaBeouf who is riding a wave of three consecutive number one hit movies was involved in an automobile crash in July.

At the time of the incident, LaBeouf was hit by another vehicle when the driver ran a red light. The actor flipped his truck and suffered extensive injuries although none were life threatening. When police arrived at the scene they believed LaBeouf to be intoxicated and filed their case with the DA. “Due to insufficient evidence, Robison Further added, the case against Shia LaBeouf will not be filed.”

It is possible that LaBeouf may lose his license for failing to provide a breathalyzer test at the time of the accident. It’s not clear if Shia refused to provide police evidence but under the circumstances at the time he went to the hospital his injuries may have prevented him from cooperating with the police investigation. Failure to provide a breathalyzer is reason for the DMV to suspend a driver’s license. The DMV has postponed Shia’s hearing to retain his license until attorneys for LaBeouf can obtain the evidence they need for the hearing.
