HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/21/08 – “The election between Jefferson and Adams was filled with innuendo, deception and partisan press…how great we’ve come so far since then!” joked Tom Hanks as he accepted the award for Best Miniseries for HBO ‘John Adams’.

‘John Adams’, which went into the Emmys with a stunning 23 nominations, won Best Lead Actor, Miniseries or TV Movie for Paul Giamatti as John Adams and Best Lead Actress, Miniseries or TV Movie for Laura Linney as Abigail Adams. ‘John Adams’ won Outstanding Supporting Actor in A Miniseries Or A Movie for Tom Wilkinson. Kirk Ellis won for Outstanding Writing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special for the ‘John Adams’ episode “Independence”.
