Palin admits to watching skit, but not listening to it
By Matthew B. Zeidman
WASHINGTON (Hollywood Today) 9/18/08 – The John McCain camp said Tina Fey’s “Saturday Night Live” impression of his Sarah Palin was sexist Monday, but the vice-presidential hopeful was all compliments Wednesday, despite the fact that she had the television on mute during the entire skit.
“I watched it with the volume all the way down. I thought it was hilarious,” Palin said in her latest interview on Fox News, complimenting Fey for a “spot on” performance. She spent the bulk of the Q&A with host Sean Hannity speaking about her and McCain’s platforms on economic and environmental issues.
On Monday, McCain advisor Carly Fiorina spoke out against the comedic impression on MSNBC, claiming that the “Saturday Night Live” cast, which also included Amy Poehler as Sen. Hillary Clinton, painted Palin as un-substantive.
“Just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance,” Fiorina stated, calling the portrayal “disrespectful” and “sexist.”
Fey and Palin’s facial features, hairstyle and glasses have often
been compared in the media, and Palin and her reps have confirmed to various news outlets, including CBS and Fox News, that the Alaskan governor made an impression of her own by previously dressing up as Fey for Halloween.

I’m a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight…..
* If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different.”
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.
* If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.
* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you don’t have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you’re qualified to become the country’s second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you’re a Christian.
* If you teach children about sexual predators, you are irresponsible and eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state’s school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values don’t represent America’s.
* If you’re husband is nicknamed “First Dude”, with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn’t register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that hates America and advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

hey there politicaljock! Darn good points you bring up. You will have a hard time unpainting a picture that has already been viewed. They can all be picked apart. Overall what painting do people want to see for the next 4 years?

hey politic jock you need to do some research on your first black president. First, he was a so called brilliant community organizer for the infamous Acorn institution which on a numerous times was caught registering voters that were dead. 90 percent of the time while in congress when a bill came across his way instead of taking a side he voted “present”. He played dumb when America found out that his minister was a racist, I mean come on he has known this guy for more than 20 years. His campaign has over 80 percent of hate commercials on John McCain. So politicjock use your head you are better than that.

on “racist minister”:
I know a lot of people, who I consider close, yet with totally unacceptable to me viewpoints. I frequently communicate with them to get their ideas, to see what they think, and how they think. This helps me to see deeper into the problems facing our society. If you do not communicate, you would never know. And they you would be surprized why would somebody go on a shooting rampage, or start a hate group. In order to solve problems you need to know them, you need to know the causes, the reasons. Racism exists for a reason. That reason needs to be identified and dealt with if we want to get rid of it.
Lack of knowledge should never be an advantage. Decisiveness without knowledge is recklessness. When the president of the United States makes a decision, it affects the whole humankind. That’s a lot of weight on one’s shoulders. We need to keep that in mind.
On this election: I respected McCain until 2000. He was a statesman then. After 2000 he slowly became a politician. Unfortunately.

We need to take this election serious. The entire world is watching our every move. John McCain did what any American would have done as a POW; it’s called survival and we all have natural survival skills. I would admire him more if he had shown character by not abandoning his first wife after she was involved in a horrific automobile accident; remember people we are chosing a person the should have sound judgement, morals, values and character, and I feel that he fails in every category. As for Sarah Palin, what message is she sending to our young people by parading her unwed pregnant teenage daughter in front of the entire world. The McCain-Palin campaign is a disgrace to us all. Every American (especially Republicans) should be ashamed and embarrased if McCain and Palin are the best that we have to offer.

Hey all of you talking political garbage, you already have your minds made up for who you’r going to vote…but when I see the garbage that comes out from people like politicaljoke here it just makes me laugh…he is from the party of tolerance, from the party that protects the people, voting for a candidate of hope and change, and all I see is the same crap…a black guy that doesn’t know how many states there are in the US that can’t deliver a speech without reading it from the teleprompter, that only voted present when he had the oportunity to make change, he thinks that he can save the world…come on be serious, a guy who believes that it is ok to kill inocent babies before they are born? and yet does not what to send someone to death for killing and raping kids? who are we kidding here….change?from what a white to a black whanabe? he made millions and only gave away a very small percentage of his earnings? and he really played stupid when we all found out about his reverend and mentor..change? his so called friendly friend a domestic terrorist, and for how long are we going to believe that the so called democrats are for the little people, there are places where the democrats have been for years running this places and it gets worse and worse…please wake up and open your eyes, our trash talk only makes things worse lets not be onesided on our conversations…the black guy could be yoour brother and the lady your mother and the old man your grandfather and we need to change all this thinking that these politicians are going to make our life better, we have to do and create our own lifes bette…I know I’ll probably get scolded for the way I think but think about it…we will not get anywhere pointing fingers and talking trash about all these people

The main issue, at least how I see it, is McCain’s age and health. Sorry, but it is. You have to play devils advocate when you decide who to vote for. McCain has a history of illness’ and is at an advanced age. Should he pass away while President, what then? Sara Palin? It’s just that simple.

Couple Facts regarding Baraks Minister… Check out his stellar military history. Stronger than McCains.. he’s earned the right criticize government. Don’t forget, we did not condemn every politician that went to a church where catholic priest was caught molesting children.. and by the way, Hilarys priest was recently convicted of such charges in Onadaga County NY (syracuse area).
I believe the vast majority in america DO want a change.. and they know thats not McCain.. but Obama represents too much change… really though, white boys been running the country since it started, anything different is a good change and surely can’t do any worse..historically speaking.

On Baraks Senate Votes… I believe his lack of taking some positions was his forward thinking of his run for the whitehouse… not sure if I would call that politically smart or morally cowardly.
