BOSTON (Hollywood Today) 9/14/08 – Earlier this year, it seemed the priest accused of stalking late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien was finally getting the help he needed by attending a medical facility for treatment mandated by his church superiors. However, the Boston Archdiocese released a statement Thursday, confirming Rev. David Ajemian had discontinued his voluntary treatment, losing his title of priest in the process.
“Today, the Archdiocese of Boston was informed that Fr. David Ajemian, against the wishes of his bishop, Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, and medical professionals, checked himself out of a medical facility located outside Massachusetts where he has been staying for the past several months,” the statement read. “By his own actions, he has violated this mandate from his bishop. Therefore, he is Absent Without Permission. He is not authorized to function as a priest.”
Ajemian, who pled guilty in April to disorderly conduct, allegedly sent O’Brien threatening letters and videos and attempted to force his way into the funnyman’s New York NBC studio. In addition to a small fine, the court required him to stay away from O’Brien for two years. According to the Boston Globe, actress Lindsay Crouse told English police last month that Ajemian had sent her letters of a similar nature.
