HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/28/08 – - “An ambulance took Winehouse from her north London home to University College Hospital,” said Chris Goodman, publicist for Winehouse. The Grammy winning Amy Winehouse, 24, was taken to the hospital Monday for an adverse reaction to medicine. She is expected to be released Tuesday.

“Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow,” Goodman added.

The latest weekly Winehouse saga comes one week after Winehouse learned that her husband, Blake Fielder – Civil, will spend the next two years in prison for witness tampering and a month after the cabaret singer spent nearly a week in the hospital due to a fainting spell. At that time, her father, Mitch Winehouse had stated, “Amy has developed early stage emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine.”

Winehouse was investigated by British police earlier this year when a London tabloid leaked a video of her smoking something through a glass pipe after she allegedly declared she “took six tablets of valium.” No charges were filed against her.

Ironically, Winehouse’s accomplishment for her 2006 Grammy winning album ‘Back in Black’ has not been overshadowed by her self-destructive behavior. Almost two years after ‘Back in Black’ hit the charts, it is still peaking at no. 12 in the UK.

On the other side of the pond in New York

Kelsey Grammer, 53, was self admitted to a New York hospital on Monday for an irregular heartbeat which maybe the result of medication he is receiving as told by many media outlets. Grammer’s publicist Stan Rosenfield told the Daily News, “his doctor is changing the medication and they will monitor him overnight.”

Grammer’s cautious admittance to the hospital is obviously warranted. Regarding this current incident, Rosenfield clarified for the media that “Kelsey did not admit himself to the hospital for an irregular heartbeat but for feeling faint” and wanted to take precaution.

In May Grammer’s publicist reported that he had suffered a mild heart attack while kayaking in Hawaii with his wife. More than a month after Grammer’s heart attack, he told Entertainment Tonight that his heart attack in Hawaii was much more severe; nearly costing him his life. The comment comes on the heels of his guest appearance on the ‘Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ in which Grammer stated he had to wait an hour an a half to receive medical attention.

One thing for sure, is that what ever Grammer’s publicist tells the media, it should be questioned.

The star of ‘Frasier’ and supporting actor in ‘Cheers,’ Grammer is said to have been distraught over the cancelation of his last sitcom ‘Back to You’ earlier this year. It’s hard to understand Grammer being distraught over anything since he was the highest paid performer in television history, garnering $1.6 million per episode for ‘Frasier,’ which lasted for 11 years.
