HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/18/08 – Instead of Manolo Blahniks, think Skechers. Instead of Cosmos, think Red Bulls. Instead of four middle-aged women discussing their sex lives, think four teenage girls discussing their first kisses. Don’t worry, “Sex and the City” purists. It hasn’t happened yet; but it will, if “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus has her way.
The 15-year-old crown jewel in the current Disney stable of talent, who is a professed addict of the HBO dramedy in kinder, gentler syndication, told TV Guide it was a fantasy of hers to “do a younger, cleaner version of ‘Sex and the City.’” It was unclear if Cyrus would choose other household names, like fellow network stars Ashley Tisdale or Vanessa Hudgens, to be her gal-pal foils should her dream ever come to fruition.
While the rising entertainer has yet to make any concrete plans to star in a kid-friendly spiritual successor to the hit show, she did make it clear to the magazine that the explicit acts performed on “Sex and the City” would not be a part of her off-screen life in the near future, extolling the virtues of chastity, lamenting her peers who have “fall[en]” and revealing her love of the Bible.
Despite her boycott of underage indiscretions, Cyrus became entangled in yet another photo-related controversy earlier this week, as sexually themed snapshots, allegedly taken when she was 14, were leaked on the Internet by an anonymous individual claiming to have surreptitiously accessed the singer’s e-mail. One image pictured Cyrus posing for the camera in a wet T-shirt during a shower, while the other showed her blowing a kiss with another T-shirt rolled up to her chest.
