HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 5/22/07 — This coming Sunday has become the greatest motor race day of the year. If you’re into motorsports, even a fan in the smallest way, you’re probably going to be watching a race on TV.

NASCAR’S has brought their show to Charlotte, North Carolina’s Lowe’s Super Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600. One of the fastest, and certainly the longest NASCAR race of the year. That equates into covering 600 miles in just over 4 hours…do the math. These guys are nuts.

Then moving up to the mid-west, to the Indianapolis Indiana Speedway, the legendary INDY 500 race Considered the “Grand Daddy” of motor sports, with 500 grueling miles at speeds in excess of 230 miles per hour, with over 200,000 fans surrounding you. For the drivers, it’s like winning the Super Bowl by yourself. Your name and likeness is forever engraved in the prestigious Borg-Warner trophy, and the winner will always be referred to as an Indy 500 winner before their name is mentioned. The winner of the Indy 500 will most likely never pay for lunch for the rest of their lives.

We’re now off to the Formula 1 Grand Prix from Monte Carlo…the Monaco Grand Prix…the most celebrated and prestigious race to win in the entire world. Since 1929, the small principality in the South of France has hosted this race. The late Prince Rainier, and his late wife, Grace Kelly were both race fans, and the hosts of this race during their lives. Prince Albert, their eldest son and heir, is now the host of this race. He has gladly assumed the responsibilities of hosting this race, being a fan himself. This race attracts people from all around the world. Incredible yachts fill the harbor….scores of private jets line the local airport in nearby Nice. And, to top it off, dozens of world famous celebrities pour into Monaco from the Cannes film festival which ends the day before the Grand Prix. And what film or TV celebrity can refuse the Grand Prix. Some seats around the track can run anywhere from $1,500.00 to $5,000.00 each…coffee is usually included. It’s something one must do at least once in a lifetime.

You’re going to be busy getting ready for your race rumble…making sure you have already called your pals, friends, anyone know who also enjoys watching the best racing. You’re going to have to remember who drinks what, who doesn’t eat this or that, and you, you’re going to have to convince your steady just how important this Sunday is to you.

You’re not going to have to explain what these races are, mainly because unless you’ve grown up on another planet, you already know these races…hell; chances are you’ve already seen at least one of them. This weekend brings us a lot of practice laps, and fewer and faster qualifying laps.

I’m sure there’s some other racing going on as well…NHRA Dragsters…Can Am cars…Super Bikes…etc. But at this point, what’s the use? The three races I mentioned are more than enough for anyone to absorb in a single day. Besides, anything else would seem like cotton candy when you’ve had steak all day. Do yourself a favor, even if you’re not a racing fan, spend 30 minutes on Sunday watching one of the above mentioned events. If you’re already a fan, you’ll thank me for reminding you about these races. Could watching the unprecedented auto Sunday could make you a race fan forever.

I would hope that you’ll be back to read my race reports…there will be a little something to say about this remarkable day. VROOOOM!

I love the look of your site. Did you make the header image on your own, or did you pay someone else to do it? If it was someone else, do you mind me asking who is was?,
